I Googled who John Bell was, I have no idea. Got some Whig politician from Tennessee.
At the moment, I'd probably go with the Grohlster.

I like Daltrey a lot but he's always seemed like a try-hard as a frontman compared to the other two, and he also shares too much of that role with Pete to be the true frontman of the band.

Yep, the constant swinging of the mic around can...

be a bit much...i.e. trying to hard.
Some of the same could be said of Mick.

arbitrary intangibles I throw in there to evaluate "best frontman". Like my post up above of Perry Ferrell....Dude can sing, but he's also a straight up entertainer......that guy's burning 3000 calories up there every night. Ian just sort of sings and tries to do this mystic crap with his hands.

Endless energy on top of being able to hold the audience in the palm of his hand. Musically versatile on guitar or drums while being a great lead singer.
He's the 5-tool ballplayer of rock.

Hands down (for me) it is Joe Pope.
For the world it is Mick. To say different is just not accurate.

Ive seen some amazing shows, but prolly the best performance by a front man I’ve ever seen in person happened by chance. I was hired to film a bunch of live shows at The Apollo theatre for awhile and one night they had George Clinton and P-Funk.
Let me tell you, George Clinton and his crew were just wild…..they had the most mysterious and electric stage presence I’ve ever seen, and they had Bootsy Collins so you just can’t do better than that.
