It would actually be an improvement over the current monetary anarchy. The NFL getting involved would bring both the NFL and the players unions into position to exercise some controls on spending etc.

It was always going to come to that. It’s unfortunate, but the NFL is the only major pro sport with no farm league. There is only 32 NFL teams. They will end up with a draft for entire college teams to have in your farm system, which would be kind of entertaining….

Then those teams can become the new 'XFL' (minor league for NFL) and the rest of the universities can continue to play collage football and play for National titles.

Unless they funded "all teams" they couldn't compete in the same league or be governed by the same rules. It would be impossible to even try to appear transparent and fair.
The veil of innocence for college football has been lifted.
What sits below is something you most likely don't want to marry! LOL!
Last 25 years National Champions: The ACC is as good as any other conference not called the SEC, period.
ACC - 5* (Clemson 16, 18, FSU 99 & 3 Miami 01) *current ACC.
SEC - 15
Big - 2 ( Ohio State in 02, 14)
B12 - 2 (Texas 05, Oklahoma 00)
Pac - 1 (Souther Cal in 04)

Their farm system is funded by others and the NFL rakes in more money than any sport in the US.

The SEC and B1G would somehow have to convince the NFL that they (NFL owners) should spend more money.
The NFL response will be, "Why should I spend my money? You guys are doing a great job for us."

How could that work without a draft.... unless they have a high school draft and send players into the school that would develop them for a certain NFL team like baseball. Unless each team funds the same amount to go to the NIL fund of certain schools.
Its where its going.... not surprised one bit. The train has left the station. No stopping it now.

Baseball has been using this model for decades. MLB’s draft through the university system is merely a gateway into the minor league system.
With football being such a physically demanding, injury prone sport, there is no room for 3 tiers of development as in baseball.
Imagine…Clemson Tigers - farm team of the Carolina Panthers!!

…the player could flit around from farm team to farm team for a lot longer, just as some players hang in the baseball farm system for most of their careers, getting called up to the majors from time to time.

But with the unpredictable nature of draft position, this doesn’t make sense on the surface unless I’m missing something. Imagine let’s say the Jets sponsor and fund Clemson and develop someone worthy of the number one pick, but they don’t have that pick. So they invested a ton of money into NIL and player development but don’t reap the benefits. Seems messy and not likely.

Forget the academics (that’s already gone) and NCAA (hey, that’s funny, I said NCAA).
The NCAA, and universities, will IMMEDIATELY back down when the NFL steps in to run the show. As they like to say, “when the adults get into the room”.
The NFL will effectively be the outsourcing of the universities athletic budgeting. Those “select” universities/institutions will be ecstatic over this funding model.

I made that suggestion to some folks I worked with 30+ years ago. I made it in jest.
"Why don't we just cut the charade and start calling them the "Tallahassee Noles"? They can be affiliated with an NFL team, say the Atlanta Falcons. They could be the AAA franchise. The Orlando Knights could be the AA franchise. The players would be drafted by the NFL and assigned to a team in their minor league system. They could sign a contract. Education could be optional. It could be part of their contract or not, whatever they agreed to. That's the direction we're heading. Why not just make it official? And, while we're at it, we could do the same thing with the basketball team."
