2015 in football, and we were one win away from the playoffs. CBB just guided Clemson to our best ever season in basketball, and we were one win away from the playoffs.

CBB's teams have that equivalent loss every year, often multiple times per season.

Obvious they needed to win the automatic bid, their regular season record, which was the best of Brad Brownell’s 13 season career and one of the best in program history, wasn’t close to getting into the playoffs.

And we actually do have an ACC regular season championship even though the ACC was much stronger top to bottom including the blue bloods.
