If Bama beats Georgia, and Michigan and Washington win, the playoffs are Michigan, Washington, Bama and Georgia. I don’t like it, but “That’s the Way It Is“,Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

If an undefeated FSU and a 1 lose Texas team are both left out for the sake of the SEC then their needs to be a playoff system that excludes esecpn and their sec girlfriends. FSU beat 2 of their fabulous sec teams snd Texas ##### slapped bammer on their field so their is no legitimate explanation for the committee other than esecpn paid us under the table to screw over non sec teams. Please Lord let Clemson go to Big 10 because they are with Fox and not the 4 letter fools!!

I hope Texas ends up as #5, however that happens, and is left standing with their ##### in their hands.

Must admit I would love to see this happen, but I believe that the team that would get left out would likely be FSU.

I just do not see how they could leave the 2 time defending national champions out of the playoff if the only game they lost was the SECCG against Bama.

Texas will be pissed off as well assuming they win Saturday.

If Texas wins I don’t see how you can put Bama in over them. The other three being undefeated Power 5 champions leaves the committee in a no win senario against Sankey.

Committee has been consistent in saying conference championships weigh greatly on their rankings.

If New Mexico State beats Georgia, they do not need to get in with their unimpressive schedule.

The way the rankings set this up:

FSU win/in, lose/out
MI win/in, lose/in
Georgia win/in, lose/in
Washington/Oregon winner in

I see a scenario where Bama doesn’t get in even with a win.

The only wild card seems to be FSU. If they lose, it opens the door where Texas or Bama have a shot with wins this weekend.

You are saying:

1-loss non-conf champ UGA is in
1-loss conf champ BAMA is out, even though they beat UGA head to head on the last day of the season

Ain't no way

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Only the winner of the SECCC should get in

Why have the same two teams play again when we already know who’s better? The conference championships should be the first round of playoffs.

A loss to Bama would not drop UGa out of the top 4 IMO***

It would drop them below Bama. And if Texas wins, they should stay ahead of Bama. So that puts UGA behind at least 2 teams already, with 3 other conference champions still to consider.

and loss to Bama wouldn't drop UGa any further than No. 4 IMO. Bama would likely get moved-up to No. 2 or 3 ahead of FSU. Probably No. 3 so UGa and Bama would be playing in the first round of the CFP.

but barring an absolute beatdown in the SECCG, which is unlikely IMO, a loss would not drop Georgia any farther than No. 4 in the CFP poll IMO.

For 10 years the CFP Committee has been saying a Conference Champion is a plus and an undefeated Power 5 Conference should always surpass a 1 loss Conference Championship loser. Let's see if FSU wins and the Committee eats crow by leaving them out.
