NC and Florida used to be our bread and butter. What's going on here? Florida makes a good bit of sense with FSU on the rise and Miami not on the rise but still recruiting better. But NC?

Not terribly concerned where they come from as long as they are the best at what they do.
To be honest, the whole stars rating and how our signing day was rated by Rivals or ESPN doesn't matter the most to me. We could have used a two-star like Hunter Renfrow the past few years.

Are we bringing in hard workers?
Are these guys good teammates? Men of character that will keep clean noses?
Are we adequately filling the gaps created by transfers and graduates?

I do understand that we "want to keep the pipeline open" for whenever a kid that everybody wants is considering Clemson, a coach or teammate to nudge him our way. But performance on the field and a great experience while on the official visit will win our fair share of recruiting battles, even in places where we have no history. Did we have connections in Jennings, Louisiana? We got Etienne.

Mack Brown is a great recruiter. Same thing happened during his first stint in Chapel Hill, Clemson took very few NC players. Once he left for Texas, we started back getting them again.
