Not saying it was long time ago - but 1969 was SO Last Century.

The last year the Gamechickens won a conference championship:

- Lyndon Johnson began the year as President before Richard Nixon was inaugurated in January.

- Broadway Joe led the NY Jets to victory over the Baltimore Colts – in Super Bowl 3.

- Mickey Mantle retired from MLB.

- The Montreal Expos became the first MLB team outside of the US

- Battle of Hamburger Hill: One of the bloodiest battles in the Viet Nam War occurred in May

- Humans stepped on the Moon for the first time in history in July

- Woodstock, NY held a music festival in August.

- Charles Manson and “family” embraced Helter Skelter – terrorized California

- The Beatles released their Abby Road album

- San Fran Giant Willie Mayes hit his 600th HR

- The Zodiac Killer killed his last known victim in October

- Sesame Street debuted in November

Life was different last century:

- Dow Jones Industrial Average: 800

- Average Cost of a New House: $15,550

- Average Annual Income: $8,555

- Average Cost of a New Car: $3,270

- Cost of a Gallon of Gas (Lead and All): 35 Cents

On second thought, maybe I am saying it was a LONG time ago.

No. A coot is a coot no matter where they are……the trick is to know where the coots are……and then call the police.

I agree because for years after they still played ACC teams and got beat as an independent school.

The best part is they have one championship sign in their stadium "1969 ACC" and talk about how it's a cupcake conference and their conference the SEC is far superior but they contribute nothing to it in football.

Interesting, you could buy a new house and a new car and gas it up for a decade or 2 in the late 60s for about what a new car costs today.

The ONLY conference championship they ever won, and still managed to have a pedestrian record. Perfectly encapsulates their football program.

Old guys help me out. Didn’t they tie for one about 1965 and have it stripped for illegal recruiting?

Since we want to be correct and all.

And, that 7-4 regular season juggernaught lost to No. 19 West Virginia in the Peach Bowl, 14-3.
