Meaningless guesses...

These may be guesstimates, but they are better than pure blindness.

Here are the four things I found most interesting:

1. I wouldn't have imagined that so many of our athletes would be getting NIL money. Can someone tell me how some of those guys near the bottom of the list are generating any revenue with their name, image, and likeness ??

2. It is obvious that some of these athletes (& their parents) are better negotiators than others. This list does not seem to reflect any correlation between NIL money and talent or contribution to the team.

3. How do NIL contracts work ? What is the duration of the contract ? I would never want to see us renege on a scholarship for a less talented player. However, I might have less problem with shifting some NIL money to landing a transfer that could shore up a team weakness.

4. Finally, I know a lot of us are dismayed with the multi-million dollar NIL deals that make the headlines. And let me clear that I would want the NIL money spread out over all of the athletes (& not just the few)as much as possible. However, even our lowest paid athletes are making as much money as I ever did as a teacher - with 2 1/2 degrees and 20 years experience.

I believe it was the Supreme Court that ruled that the athletes had a right to some of the billions of dollars generated by the NCAA off of their talents and effort.

Now the NCAA bureaucracy could have come up with a more reasonable system - and perhaps they will eventually, but let's be clear - the thing that is relegating the "college football" that you are all lamenting to the trash heap of history is that the athletes are finally getting their constitutionally-guaranteed piece of the pie.

I dislike how the process is being handled right now, but I am completely supportive of the athletes getting their share of all of the money being generated by the NCAA.

Amen. I got in a few decades of college football watching before it was ruined and I loved it.

My parents told me to not believe everything you read on the internet.

I think some grandkids need to remind their grandparents on this board of that...

Scheffelin has to be the most undervalued dude on that list based on in-game performance!

Is there not some dating site called “on the rebound” or something he could sponsor? I’m scared to Google it to see. lol
