### does everyone want Jeff Scott???!!!

Nov 26, 2022, 11:24 PM

The guy is a has been. He Wasn’t spectacular when he was here under incredible talent. The game has advanced/changed. His play calling was basic.
Where is the Dabo that fired Steele immediately for Chad Morris? Where is the Dabo that hired Brett? Both hires completely transformed the offense and defense. Scott isnt transforming anything. Come on yall. Let’s get real here. Dabo….let’s get serious about this program. EARN….EARN that $15 million/year contract!!!!! Get after it.Dont tell me that ridiculous salary is going to go after mediocre once has been old players.

I get it adn agree. But, dude, we have lost A LOT of ground and I mean A LOT of ground. Scott isnt it. we need real coaches. Dabo has fumbled the ball in a ridiculous way and we need someone to gain a serious amount of ground. Dabo is lost.

Agreed . . . MUCH Agreed . . .

Jeff Scott was a pretty predictable play-caller, as well. He was better than Elliot, but that's not saying much. Clemson excelled under him in spite of his offensive mind, not because of it.

That said, he was a phenomenal recruiter. I think that may be much of what's driving people on this topic. If Jeff Scott were here this year, I think his play calling would be better than Streeters, but not great, either. All our OC's as of late (even Morris) got over-reliant on what they thought worked, even when it didn't work repeatedly. The great talent they were recruiting often bailed them out and obviated the necessity of reexamining their philosophies.

spot on.

I'd be okay were Scott to return but I think I liked his recruiting and WR development more than his play calling. He was prepared to deviate from Chad's play calling , which I appreciated.

Great wr coach. He could shop for em and cook em up at the wr position. That’s his wheelhouse.

He did draw up the play on the ground that beat Alabama in the Natty in 2016 !!! Streeter has plays in a book and we can’t beat an unranked in-state rival !!!

His WRs blocked at least

Nov 26, 2022, 11:39 PM

We just need him to take that position back over.

I just looked at the USC coaching staff to see how many coaches Riley needed to bring with him. His key coach was the WR coach—they l him the outside WR coach. Add that to his playcalling and boom! Heisman.

He snagged the OL coach from TAMU as OC (but he calls plays). Then a lot of PAC-familiar / area recruiters. Props to his RB coach (from Utah) but he was a hold-over.

But as much as we use WRs for the run game, they must block.

Scott Frost would be interesting

Nov 26, 2022, 11:42 PM

I read an article about the offensive identity that he was trying to install at Nebraska — Oregon finesse blended with Nebraska toughness. I’d love to see that here (assuming it can exist). The article claimed it was happening in practice but not on the field (sounds familiar). But recall that Heupal worked for Frost.
