It will probably be a couple of years before he hits anybody in Death Valley. Hopefully, at that point, he will be 40-45 lbs. lighter.

He already lost 35lbs, came to school and weighed 412 and now around 375. He said the coaches want him about 350 to be more flexible but this will be his starting playing target weight. He is a giant human.

He gets four games if I’m correct before redshirting. I say jumbo packages on short yardage as a bigarz fullback

Clemson had a guy like this before in Spencer Region but he never got his weight in check fully.

Jackson Carmen struggled with his weight but was athletic enough to still play. Fortunately got to around 335 his last yr which was his gateway to playing his best and to NFL.

He's going to need a couple years to get his body right and demonstrate that he can stay focused.
You don't get a big gut as a HS athlete by focusing on being the best athlete you can be. I say that with the realization that not every kid has adults around him to provide proper perspective/guidence/focus.
Also availability of proper food and knowledge of healthy eating is lacking in many households.
A RS year will give him this year in the weight room and conditioning to get in better shape. Hope he recognizes that a RS year is a gift and that he takes full advantage of the time that he has.
Hopefully the staff (mainly Coach TA) is providing the tough love (if necessary) to give this young man what he needs to strive for excellence and propel himself to athletic and personal success.
