Missouri for an illegal hit in the 3rd quarter
USC fans pissed,, they think they should be able to take cheap shots and then complaine about Shaw getting a hit and hurt
they want it both ways
good thing for the SEC,, USC takes cheap shots every #### game and finally gets called on one
if anyone has the video please put it up

The Vandy player that leveled the hit against USC did not get suspended. That hit knocked off the receivers helmet.

The fact that the defender wasn't suspended does not make the hit any less illegal.

I agree. I just think when two players get flagged for the same thing, any punishments should be equal. I agree though that the hit was illegal.

and the helmet rule in general on a defenseless receiver. That was an extremely dangerous situation for the receiver and Swearinger launches dead ahead with his helmet to the guy's grill. Chumpy at best, but not unexpected from a squad under a coach who cares little about discipline and player safety.

Leading with your head into another person's head. I'm sure that's what they coach and USCheat, but in real life that is a dangerous play.

The difference is the hit on Shaw was 100% legit. he shouldn't have been in the game anyway. They can thank old Stevie for that.

The hit on Shaw was 100% legal. Maybe not entirely necessary, but it was legal.
DJ's hit was illegal and it got the penalty flag that it deserved. The hit on Justice in the Vandy game was illegal and got the penalty flag it deserved. The Ole Miss players hit illegal, didn't get a penalty flag, but got a half-game suspension.
We aren't mad that DJ is suspended - we just want some consistency from the SEC. The precedent was set by not suspending the Vandy player. It was then reset when they suspended the Ole Miss player for a half. How can you have three different penalties for three almost identical hits?

If the hits are "almost identical" it means they aren't identical and therefore can have differences in the severity of the penalties.

That is an understatement. maybe if some of the coaches in your league would start disciplining their players then the league wouldn't have to.

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The SEC has suspended South Carolina free safety D.J. Swearinger for a game after his hit on a defenseless UAB receiver.
The Southeastern Conference's decision Monday means Swearinger will miss the seventh-ranked Gamecocks' game this weekend against Missouri.
A personal foul was called against Swearinger after he launched into UAB's Patrick Hearn while breaking up a pass in the third quarter Saturday. The side of Swearinger's helmet crashed into Hearn's facemask. Both players stayed in the game.
On Sunday, South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said a Vanderbilt player was given a 15-yard penalty but no suspension for a similar hit against Gamecocks tight end Justice Cunningham.
Spurrier says the NCAA should also protect quarterbacks after they release a pass. Gamecocks QB Connor Shaw was knocked out of the UAB game.
--I love how Spurrier tells the NCAA what it should do when he probably tells his defense to kill the QB at all costs.

had he not celebrated like an idiot and quietly went back to the huddle, a 15 yard penalty would have been all he would have received.
Players should learn, if you pull off a hit like this(helmet to helmet), don't give them the extra celebration film to look at on Monday to influence their decision.
