Steve Spurrier rewards two reporters with a $100 cash prize

Hey, it’s an offseason Saturday. And it’s Steve Spurrier doing Steve Spurrier things. In this instance, those “Spurrier things” involved handing two reporters an envelope containing a $100 bill for answering a trivia question correctly.
Spurrier was meeting reporters today to talk about the Gamecocks’ new defensive line coach, Deke Adams (Spurrier also took a nice parting shot at former D-line coach Brad Lawing, who left for Florida). That’s when Spurrier asked those in attendance if they could name all the college football teams with 11 wins in each of the past two seasons. South Carolina, obviously, was one, along with Alabama, Oregon and Stanford.
Two reporters got the question right, so Spurrier reached into his coat pocket and pulled out two envelopes containing $100 bills and handed it to them before walking away. The two reporters looked inside to find a $100 bill.
Random, but alright then.

I'm pretty sure this is a violation of NCAA regulations and should require an internal investigation as well as bringing investigators on campus to look into the matter. Payouts are a no no by Head Coaches during the national signing period, preceeding and up to 2/6/13!!Sorry coots, but you're looking at several more months of probation as well as fines and scholy reductions.

You have pretty clearly seriously jumped the gun here. A gift to a couple of reporter unrelated to any particular recruit is an NCAA violation? I will admit that this is a bit odd, but I think we need something more than your say to establish that this is a violation.
I know that I'm a "coot." But please understand that I would react exactly the same way if Dabo did the same thing and one of our fans argued that it was an NCAA violation.

If you meant that as a joke, you need to work on your sense of humor. Nothing in your post indicated that you meant it to be ironic. Nothing.
And FYI, a lot of my "cockU" classmates were undergraduates from Clemson.

Coot fans will never understand...

If Dabo gave two reporters a couple of hundred dollars and garnered some extra addition for the Tigers, we would call him a genius. If spurrier does it, it's spurrier being spurrier--that low-down, miserable excuse for a human being. Just like if USuCk wins a championship it is because they cheated, whereas if we win a championship it’s because of our superior coaches, players, and fans.
For example, don't coots understand that Dabo is a god-fearing, Christian man, and spurrier is the antichrist. Columbia is a cesspool of sin, and Clemson is “the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill [that] cannot be hidden" (Matthew 5:14).
Why would a coot expect to find positive comments about spurrier on a Clemson forum?

during official visits. Each recruit that participated had the challenge of answering questions such as:
-Name the school colors of the state university you're attending
-What is your name?
-How many championships has USC won?
-What color is a football?
-What year were you born?
Winning participants were escorted to Coach Spurrious' office where media was not allowed. Questions continued until each recruit answered correctly.
