Jeff Scott, recruiting.

Sitting here listening to a Seminole podcast. These guys are not paid by FSU. Independent web service. (warchant.com, but that's not important)
They are talking about the coaching staff. They have been praising how much FSU has improved. They have talked about the positive direction the team is going, the infrastructure Norvell has set up, etc.
Now they are talking about "the one glaring weakness." High school recruiting. They are talking about how they think changes will be made on the coaching staff this year and how much Norvell needs to hire coaches who can recruit.
Alex Adkins is the OL/OC. (Norvell is de facto OC; he calls all the plays. But, he works closely with Adkins in developing the game plan.) Adkins is clearly the best recruiter on the staff. (He may be the only "good" recruiter on staff. Adkins is rumored to be a candidate for another job this year. These guys are saying he probably won't leave this year, but he may very well leave next year.
I have no idea what Jeff's Scott plans are. But, this Clemson board has convinced me he's a great recruiter. Just thinking out loud. "I wonder if Scott and Norvell might have a conversation next month."

Jeff Scott went to at least Middle and High School in Columbia and then went to college at Clemson. Coached at Blythewood and PC before coming on staff at Clemson. The dude is much more a State of SC native than a State of FL.

calls from Elliott, Venables, and just about anyone else that wants to talk. Can't hurt to hear all offers when considering his next move.

Any HC would be kind of stupid to not want to bring Jeff Scott into their offense, I mean Jeff was the WR coach to most of the Clemson NFL WR stars in the NFL right now!!!

Counterpoint. The WRs who did not and have not developed and underperform were all recruited by Scott.

Counter-counterpoint: Maybe those players don't fit what Streeter and Grisham want to do as well as they would have with Scott. We'll almost definitely never know what the real reason is, but I'd wager that's a large part of it.

Could be a large part of it. The coach should be capable and competent to put the players he has into the best position to succeed with their skill set.
It’s pretty sad you cannot get one ounce of consistent production from highly rated players. Both were on staff during their recruitment. Streeter and Grisham have no excuse.

I believe Ngata, Ladson, Spector were the last of Jeff Scott’s recruiting focus before he left. Perhaps Ajou as well. Nonetheless, injuries and lack of development under Grisham is the bigger impact for the above players that generally showed promising athletic ability when the first arrived. Personally, I feel the entire position group we currently have would produced better under Scott’s coaching and not be as clear of a liability as they now demonstrate.

If he has a chance at either school, which he won't, he would pick FSU.
