Me for a loop. I am more worried about our situation now than I ever have been. My greatest fear is starting to slowly materialize.
Most stunning from the article is
1. He does not think FSU has a landing spot at this time.
2. If FSU doesn't, we sure don't. Now I understand the silence. And it is what j feared.
3. For all the talk about a new way of being attractive either than adding a state to the footprint, he indicates what many have suggested. The SEC would rather begin with UNC and Virginia if they even do expand.
David did a very good job of laying out the truth, but it is a very disturbing scenario he describes. And one have hinted at many times on here, only to get abuse.
We are likely not on the BIG radar at all, and possibly behind FSU, UNC, UVA on the SEC.
This is a very serious situation

One of the two conferences isn't going to leave a perennial contender out.
If money is driving the train, you get the brands that are valuable and use them to make more $$$$$.
Clemson is still a big name at the moment -- might have lost some luster due to the last couple of years but if we show up in the next year or two and contend for titles or even win another CFP we're getting invited to the cookout.
Edit: spelling change --> Perennial contenders - Not perineal 😂 thank yall for the good laugh. Clearly, some of y'all took A&P and remember your terms.

It might be serious when teams actually leave the conference but until then the ACC is alive and well. Soccer starts in 3 weeks and football in 4 and all this consternation will go away.

He's also been very clear nobody really knows anything or is willing too squeal. If the PAC12 implodes, it will likely force the SEC to make a move to match the B1G expansion.
The question is, what does the B1G expansion look like outside of Oregon and UW? Do they go for an east coast footprint? If they do, Clemson will be a player for one of the power conferences. We've had the most playoff success over the past decade, outside of Bama and UGA.

participate in the Playoffs. Conference SOS is increased when a its teams are ranked in the top ten also. Clemson is top shelf. Right now one of the most esteemed football teams in the nation. Dabo is one of the best coaches, our facilities are as good as any and better than 90%, possibly more than that. Our athletes are excellent students which lends credit to any conference. They behave well enough to get honorable mention.
Don't chit yourself, we can move to any conference that appreciates a top ten football team and one of the three best coaches on the globe.
David didn't cover that.

It seems the B1G and Big 12 are looking into possible additions and I’m guessing the SEC will just react to what happens when they do what they are going to. FSU should quiet their intentions imo.
Not sure what the ACC is currently doing but rumor has it we are currently negotiating another hand shake deal with the SoCon, similar to the one we had with the PAC 12 and B1G. In the grand scheme it means very little to nothing but we can’t appear to be sitting on our hands.

This is a prime example of what happens when elitists run organizations. ACC had opportunity to add quality football schools, but refused to do so because of academic, elitist reasoning. We now could not add a quality football school if Sheol froze over.

I still don’t get the DC TV market bonus that is thrown around about UVA. They have a 65k stadium that is typically 30% empty. That’s nearly 20,000 empty seats. Why would people who wouldn’t buy a ticket bother to watch on TV?
