Would WV, Baylor, OK state and TCU be enough

To keep the ACC as a major conference? No merit, just a conversation about a possible merger with top big 12 programs to compete.

I don't think any of them would want to join***

We are a Major Conference and will continue to be one, but if those teams joined the cash register would be ringing after a new TV deal.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

I think it would be enough. I would also consider either Arizona State, Utah, or Arizona. I think they also would move the needle for more money due to more markets.

Lol ACC is Dead Man Walking and those teams make it an absolute mid major.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

wouldn’t really increase per team payout even if it was possible

ACC will be distant 3rd in payout regardless - gap will still be there between ACC and B1G/SEC.

nope.... acc is done

breakup is the only answer.

If they could make the teams in the league that are underperforming step up a notch the gap would be narrowed. There are 8+ teams in the conference who need to step up. They have been content with reaping the rewards of the top tier teams in the league. The new revenue distribution may create a challenge to them to perform. Some amount of the revenue they do receive should be linked to facility improvements which would up their recruiting ability.

Distributing equal shares of revenue to three more teams would only serve to shrink the TV payout to existing ACC members.

None of those teams add enough value to keep Clemson from leaving the ACC.

WV is a natural fit and a win win, even in the short term.

Going any further west than Louisville IMO isn't a good direction. Sew up the east coast south to north and in between, then leverage the football powers you would have in the midst to take it up a notch. Too many other sports pay a hefty toll for too many long travels, as do the fans.

West Va offers built in attractions with Pitt, Va Tech, and Miami. The Backyard Brawl would be a nice feather in the ACC's cap on Rivalry Weekend.

What are 4 schools that no one cares about for $100, Alex...

It's all about television revenue.

Adding teams that don't increase television revenue makes no sense.

No. Plus, looks like Big 12 now has momentum, so why leave?***

OK State and TCU maybe. WV and Baylor, no for football.

Jul 29, 2023, 10:04 PM

Now Baylor in basketball might be another conversation.

How do you keep Gamecocks out of your yard?
• Put up goal posts
What does a Gamecock grad call a Clemson Tiger grad in 2 years?

The only answer is joining the SEC. I don’t know how they make it happen but that’s where Clemson needs to be. The ACC doesn’t provide the revenue to keep up with SEC or B10. The Big ten doesn’t provide the right coverage in prime time with top teams to get kids interested. Clemson would be a top tier SEC team immediately and given the respect and money of such. The only problem is the academic and moral standards of the SEC aren’t were the same. They don’t have the values or quality of Clemson or Clemson people, they dern sure don’t have the same academic standards as Clemson. So if you’re willing to sacrifice your morals, values and intelligence just to be considered more elite at football…. Then SEC it is.
