It will be interesting to see if the coaches go back to that alignment today. Brown’s errors covering first for bunt situations have resulted in some costly errors, and while Logoleo is very athletic the ball has hit her glove on several grounders at the hot corner that are routine plays for a good 3rd baseman. Then yesterday we had Moore back peddling on a couple grounders that needed to be charged instead to get the out at first. These kinds of miscues have lost the Tigers too many close games this year. It would help to play a game with the prior alignment to get some reps heading into the postseason play. Atleast Rittman could then return the focus on getting Brown to play better against the bunt at 3rd.

I don’t think that’s the case. Yes, she’s comitted errors but Brown’s fielding issues on just getting to routine grounders and a strong throw over to first has been visible to our opponents. That’s why she swapped with Moore, who wasn’t going back to third with the throwing inconsistency she has. Logoleo would be playing better at SS where she has the most experience. However, I grant that she’s a converted outfielder, and also has struggled with infielding instincts and glove work. Bottom line, Rittman has run out of answers mainly because he didn’t recruit someone to replace Logeleo and allow her to return to the outfield. Rittman struck gold with Davenport playing 3rd, but didn’t find the same success defensively with Brown as his follow up transfer solution.
