Because these things should now be in every first aid kit nowadays.
Life is previous. You are not handing these things out to addict (addicts that OD are not using this to have fun), you are handing these out to family, neighbors, and faithful citizens and giving them a tool to combat the crisis, and hopefully save a life. It buys time. It isn't enabling it.
"It buys precious time for medical treatment of an overdose. It is safe and easy to administer."
When ordered in bulk and distributed these things cost less than $30 a does.
Berkeley county should be praised for this, not criticized.
No one questions AEDs... and hamburgers are addictive.

one who wants their addicted loved one to get help for their opioid addition.
But, it will probably be abused like the opioid.

That is like saying that suicide hotlines enable suicide.

Narcan is for emergencies. You first deal with the emergency to safe a life, then you work on root causes.
Hope that helps.

That’s B.S.
Do away with the hotlines and those who would call them will quit needing them

It must be good stuff. The folks who used it on Live PD never even ask the price.
Might want to issue it to the baseball program.

made legal nationwide our government overlords will be trying to figure out how to legalize heroin, cocaine and all opioids. And companies in the US will be making them. And when they do legalize them the taxes will be so high on these products it will still be cheaper to buy from the drug cartels in Mexico. The deaths from drugs won't go down and people won't have to worry about "oppressive" laws for buying drugs.

Cocaine already was legal...till it wasn't. See under Coke.

In early 20th-century Memphis, Tennessee, cocaine was sold in neighborhood drugstores on Beale Street, costing five or ten cents for a small boxful. Stevedores along the Mississippi River used the drug as a stimulant, and white employers encouraged its use by black laborers.
In 1909, Ernest Shackleton took "Forced March" brand cocaine tablets to Antarctica, as did Captain Scott a year later on his ill-fated journey to the South Pole.

2 weeks (11 or so days) ago in Atlanta people started dropping like flies in bars/clubs. Some coke dealers were putting Fentanyl in their coke and the buyers were unaware of this. I saw where some bars or clubs were giving narcan out in their establishment as a precautionary meassure.

would not be cracking wise about an "opioid epidemic". Legally prescribed opioids are a Godsend to anyone in that situation. The "Epidemic" comes from illegal use. Alcohol is legal too, and causes much more problems than opioids. The government already tried making that illegal once, all it did was spawn tons of illegal alcohol sales resulting in no money for the government, more money for mobsters. The demand never went away.
If the drug companies come up with a better painkiller than opioids, I would gladly switch to it. Unless and until they do, I am thankful that I have them. You can make your own decision.
