I was at the game and until last night blotched safety call was probably the worst call ever known

That's even worse than the Jabar Gaffney "catch" with 14 seconds left vs. Tennessee in 2000.

I remember that! Ron Cherry Sr had his officiating crew there.

That Was My First Clemson Game That I Attended ----
Nov 6, 2013, 4:31 PM

It was a soggy wet day and our Tiger fans was mad as h*ll that day. I thought something would break out that night. We walked so fast to our car but I can still hear fans inside say "Maryland effing sucks!"

They ruled it a catch but in this day and age.......

with instant replay reviews of plays like this that ruling would be overturned.

We were robbed by idiot ACC refs, then Danny gets in trouble

for telling the truth. We should have dumped the ACC right then. They have done nothing but screw Clemson then and now ! Unfortunately we had a few pansy @sses gum up the works.

Did You Know.....Danny was banned from the sideline
Nov 6, 2013, 4:31 PM

the next year for droppoing the F-Bomb on CBS when he went out on the field. Bobby Ross was also banned from the sidelines for chasing the ref's off of the field the game prior to ours in 1986. Both coaches coached from the press boxes.
THIS GAME STILL PISSES ME OFF!!!!!

Exactly,,, Play clock had expired about 3 seconds before the snap,, no flag was thrown so that was as bad as the touchdown call.....
I always thought it was ACC retribution anyway.... Such a punk conference......
BTW: Also could have been revenge for beating Maryland 52-20 the year we went undefeated in the ACC but, were on probation so Maryland got the championship ring.

The refs botched that play just about every way possible
Nov 6, 2013, 4:37 PM
|
|
There was movement on the offensive line before the snap that was ignored, the play clock expired before the snap and the delay of game that should have been called was also ignored, and the TE did not catch the pass.
Typical substandard and incompetent ACC officiating that we have been enduring for decades.

Did you see the Miami Ohio call?
Nov 6, 2013, 4:37 PM
|
|
The QB was at the 20 ran back to the 5 yard line and threw it away, with a WR in the area, the ref called it a safety, even though he was at the 5 yard line when he threw the ball. He then explained the call on the field can't be reviewed. So his awful call he knew was, had to stand.

so unfortunately, I had a great look at it.
I'm still surprised the refs got out of DV after the game without bodily harm.

If i remeber correctly, 3 things happened on one play and...

MD got the benefit of all three. The play clock ran out, MD was guilty of an obvious hold, and Edmonds did NOT CATCH that pass (never had possession).

If you could see the whole play, first, the clock ran out
Nov 6, 2013, 8:02 PM
|

before the snap( and I'm talking like 2 full seconds),then the left guard jumped before the snap, then he dropped it. Maryland was going to win that game regardless. The refs and ACC were NOT going to allow Clemson to win.

I remember that call - also, a "catch" at North Carolina
Nov 6, 2013, 9:15 PM
|
|
that same year. Before the non-catch in the Md game, I remember beating on my husband's arm because the 25 second clock had run out and the stupid refs didn't call it.

It was not a catch or even close. Also, the 25 second clock expired and the play should have been blown dead from that start, but wasn't.
