What do you see coming from this momentum?

Nov 5, 2023, 5:19 PM

We have 3 games left, and none are walk in the park.

It just seems like this team can put it together if they want to. Now for whatever reason they do not perform the same in “lesser stage” games, I don’t know. But the FSU game should’ve been won, and Clemson 100% earned that win against ND, and they actually won.

I also don’t know if Dabo will pull the trigger on Mafah at 1st string. Will Shipley has been outstanding for us, he’s also single-handedly won some games for us in his career. But the dilemma just seems like there needs to be a main guy to keep rhythm. But Will has caught some backlash for his fumbles this year and also just not quite finding open field.

Also..There were several key injuries we had against ND. Antonio’s been out half a season, including many more.

When healthy and consistently performing like that, do you see an immediate turn around next year? Or do you still see a couple or few years to regenerate everything?

Run the table and win the bowl game.

There's something in these hills.

Make a bowl game.

Nov 5, 2023, 5:32 PM

Win the bowl game and reestablish some forward momentum.

Then go do what needs to be done on staff and in the portal (if necessary) to give good players a shot to make a difference for themselves and the program.

I dont think Dabo has an unlimited runway with the BoT/AD. He needs to show real results next year.

Somehow, I doubt that the BoD/AD will dump a 2 time Natty winner after a couple years. Pressure will heat up, no doubt, but id bet on a pretty long leash

Agreed. Not to mention the all-time winningest football coach in Clemson history.

Lol they are never firing Dabo.

Dabo will have a statue, they won’t fire him

GT is very doable, as long as we play the same as we did vs ND. Usuc should be very doable, considering their struggles and our need for W's (not to mention the in state hate). UNC is the big question.
Dont know about Mafah. I hope that Dabo continues with playing them both and let them sort it out. Mafah earned the opportunity to prove himself. I believe our best option is to play both and let the chips fall.
As for next year, dont forget, this is Klubniks "first year". Hes ,esssentially, a freshman. Hes made a lot of freshman mistakes, but hes getting better. First year as our coordinator, for Riley. Klubnik doesnt seem to lack for confidence, just good judgement (which you usually get from making mistakes). I have to believe, with a more experienced QB and a coordinator that is more familiar with the ACC, we do better next year. Our wr's will have more exp. Stellato will be a beast. We also have several highly rated wr's waiting to get their shot. I'm predicting a much better year in 2024. Playoffs will also be 12 teams and wide open. Not saying we are there, but I believe we'll be close.

We're also used TL and DW. Without that top level talent ( Kelly Bryant and dju), we have been good, but not great.

Not so fast my friend. The USC game has been notorious for both teams to make stupid mistakes and turnovers have more than not, decided the outcome of that game. This year we have been king of the stupid mistakes hill. If we can snap out of it, go in there mistake free with low penalties then we win. If we play stupid that game could be an embarrassment

No doubt. Dont get me wrong; I'm a big advocate of " never underestimate your opponent." Palmetto bowl has always been a game where nothing else matters except for the win. This game is their bowl game/ bragging rights/ slap yo mama game. I remember when there were only about 7-8 bowl games, no acc championship and this game was more important than anything. I just hope the players, and especially the coaches, get it. No prisoners, no mercy. Just win

Go Tigers

I think there needs to be a number one guy.

And, I honestly think Stellato is our best receiver. It’s tough to outplay Antonio W. when he’s fully performing. I see Williams and Stellato in the NFL, maybe Brown and Collins too.

Yeah, regards to Cade, that goes back to the fan appreciation.

Well Vegas certainly believes we have am easy one with the 13.5 spread.

As for Shipley, I get people saying he won games for us, but that's not to say Mafah would have done the same. Maybe quadzilla too. Just don't know. Shipley just hasn't seemed to be as effective as past.

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think Mafah showed he deserves more carries

We will see if that translates to the field this week. I hope it does.

Re: What do you see coming from this momentum?

Nov 5, 2023, 6:10 PM

Shipley was outstanding in 2021 and last year. I don't think he's been all that great this year. Too much shouting, not enough performing. Too easy to tackle, trips over the yard markers, and his blocking needs something to be desired. And the fumbles have really hurt. He needs to step it up after he feels better.

It was a nice win.

One in a row isn't momentum...

Windshield mentality. Focus only on GT right now.

Nov 5, 2023, 9:21 PM

Get the W and then plan on UNC coming to town. One game season.

One thing that is for certain, we never know what Clemson team will show up. They have consistently made critical errors that cost us many games and it could have cost us the game Sat, but ND made more critical errors.

This team is growing and I like what I am seeing. Dabo is always good in November. I hope that trend continues.

What will define this year will be the coot game, and what people and recruits will remember, is how we play in the bowl game. A win over Auburn in Charlotte will give us the most street credit going into the off-season and with recruits.

We could win 4 more or lose 3 more. Probably somewhere in the middle. I see us going 2-1 over the next 3 and hoping for a good bowl win to hold us over until the UGA game in ATL.
