Porter-Gaud has a LONG history of good field goal kickers, going all the way back to at least the early 70's, 70-72. The reason I remember is, back then, field goals were almost not a thing in South Carolina high school play. But, you would see scores from Porter-Gaud's games, and hear of them hitting field goals from pretty good distances, sometimes to win games. A made field goal of ANY length was cause for celebration at my Class A school! It didn't happen often.
