We need to start thinking "outside the box" for recruiting

Jan 4, 2015, 3:01 PM

Basketball is big in Europe, Argentina, Australia ...

Why don't we take field trips there and grab some players ?

I know Spain is huge, and they have a very good system, so many of the players don't even bother with the College rout ... but what about Germany?, Slovakia?,

here is a list where Basketball is popular (USA top of course)

USA
Argentina
Croatia
Serbia
Lithuania
Italy
Spain
China
Greece
Russia

I know those Chinese are communists and the Russians are like Communists who now like Capitalism, but ANYTHING to help this program ....

"Top Tier" talent in the USA just don't want to play for Clemson for some reason

Brownell already tried that with Nnoko, Djitte, Djambo

Jan 4, 2015, 3:09 PM

Nnoko is from Cameroon
Djitte is from Senegal
Djambo has transferred but was from Mali.

We need to recruit better guards the game has changed. Our guard play is atrocious.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We have guards that were good shooters out of HS. There is

Jan 4, 2015, 5:14 PM

too much pressure on they to not miss sense we don't get rebounds or put backs like with KJ,That is causing bad shots & will with other recruit that we may get

In Europe kids join sport clubs when they are young. Some of them, depending on the level they play at, get paid and then wouldn't be NCAA eligible. Bobo sat out a couple of games to start his career as "suspension" for it.

We need to be in on every top recruit every year !

Jan 4, 2015, 3:30 PM

They can't all go to Duke, UNC or Syracuse. We need to recruit nationally. If we don't have enough staff to do so hire them !

I agree we need to expand our recruiting base. With the future facility upgrades, would love a more uptempo game. Gimmicky or not you have to adapt and change to help secure recruits.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Recruit nationally?? How long since we got the best player

Jan 4, 2015, 3:47 PM [ in reply to We need to be in on every top recruit every year ! ]

in South Carolina?

Good point. Maryland has had some success going overseas for big men lately at least.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's the major change for the coots as well

Jan 4, 2015, 5:18 PM

Martin did a good job of over seas recruiting at K.State.I didn't expect him to turn the coots so quick.hopfully it won't last

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We need to give top recruits right here in Murica a reason

Jan 4, 2015, 3:50 PM

to come to Clemson.

They hired a coach who wins. I don't want Frank Martin in our program, but he wins.

Somebody needs to bring Tates Locke in for some consulting. Ole Tates might have cut a few corners, and I know B.C. is long gone, but he put the best team I have ever seen on the floor at Clemson. And about got Moses Malone.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If I was recruiting Europe/Austrailia ...

Jan 4, 2015, 6:42 PM

I would show 'em pics of the pretty womens ... the warm climes ... if we get them to visit ... take them to a Football Game, take them to Greenville, ask the Frats to show them a good time ... HOWEVER, they will find it VERY strange that the drinking age here is 21 .... then again, would ask Frats for help
