ESPN going direct to streaming would be a mortal wound to cable TV bundles.

If this article is true, cable TV subscription numbers will go on a deep dive when this trigger is pulled.

There are millions of us who only continue paying for cable bundles because we have to have live sports.

Now you can pay for streaming bundles.

Same difference. If I can get ESPN directly, don’t need YouTubeTV either.

Hopefully WB discovery would do something similar with TNT and TBS for march madness and postseason baseball.

Yea Catv is definitely on the decline. Our company is converting our antiquated copper system to fiber and offer our tv service on our app. We have basically went to being a broadband company and sell dial tone and tv over our network. Everything seems to have gone way of the app/streaming deal. Actually subscribed to the ESPN+ for more golf coverage and Clemson baseball.

So far I am seeing this as possibly being expensive if you start subscribing to a lot of apps and find you are only watching a show or 2 on some of them. Which is going on with me right now.

Cable is dead. No brainer for ESPN to make the move. I cut the cord four years ago and subscribe to ESPN +. Streaming is the future of college football, and it could create opportunities for programs like Clemson to escape the terrible ACC deal.

You can’t watch Clemson stuff, except for an occasional road game like the Coastal baseball game, with ESPN+. You currently still need some type of live TV provider - cable, satellite or streaming - to access most all Clemson content.

This article says that may soon change.

This should be a God send for getting out of the GOR. Some smart ambulance chaser should see this as a way to void the ESPN contract, since the contract was not based on ACC games being exclusively streamed by ESPN.
