https://komonews.com/news/local/washington-senator-doug-ericksen-dies-at-52Washington state Senator Doug Ericksen dies at 52 OLYMPIA, Wash. - Senator Doug Ericksen (R-Whatcom County) has died. The Washington State Senate Republican Caucus said the senator passed away on Friday. He was 52 years old. The Ferndale Republican's death came weeks after he said he had tested positive for the coronavirus while in El Salvador, though his cause of death wasn’t immediately released. He leaves behind two daughters and a wife. "We are heartbroken to share that our husband and father passed away on Friday, Dec. 17.
He is my age. Just had one friend die (also my age) and another one barely survive from my old neighborhood in recent months.
I got the JJ in May but thinking about getting Pfizer for my booster. Did anyone else mix them like this?

Sad news.

I’m guessing he wasn’t vaccinated.
It’s amazing how many people continue to think that the virus isn’t a big deal.
It’s also sad how many people aren’t willing to get vaccinated and practice good hygiene in an effort to protect others.

Now his wife and kids are left without their husband and father, sad.
I have a very conservative, religious, Republican family but they didn't conflate any of these views with being anti-vax and mask. I am truly thankful for that!

That's a shame but he made a choice which didnt work out for him. Vaxed get sick too but often not as bad. There is no way to predict how it will work. I've vaxed and boostered so I've done what I can do other than be safe around others.

You’re easily the worst and most arrogant poster I’ve ever seen on any message board.
The man died and the first thing is to call him out on something you don’t agree with… what does that say about you? I’ve found out with you nut job liberals that you’d rather be right at the cost of anything.
It’s a disgrace and the country is clearly falling a part by clowns like you.

If the guy had died after jumping off a building because he didn’t believe in gravity, would it be ok to call him out then because of his stupidity?

Unless he was mentally ill, yes it would be fine to call him out. He would be a Darwin Award winner for not believing in gravity and being extra stupid.

Actually, the first thing I said is that his death is sad news.

Second, his stance against vaccines was not based on science. That is sad, because it cost him his life. As a political figure and leader in his community, his stance might have also resulted in other unnecessary deaths. That’s also very sad to me.
Third, I’m not a liberal. I just follow the science, which is clear. If you can’t see that the vaccine is way way better than not getting the vaccine, and significantly reduces severe illness and death from COVID, I don’t know what to tell you.

No problem with what you’re saying. My problem is when the unvaccinated are mentioned they never distinguish between the unvaccinated vs unvaccinated but recovered from Covid. Like me! I do not belong in the “unvaccinated” group as many like to vilify.

Follow the science. Just like the Judge said.
Convalescent is you btw. Infected and recovered. Herd immunity for life, right. Best of the best.
Source: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.12.12.472269v1.fullBroadly neutralizing antibodies overcome SARS-CoV-2 Omicron antigenic shift The recently emerged SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant harbors 37 amino acid substitutions in the spike (S) protein, 15 of which are in the receptor-binding domain (RBD), thereby raising concerns about the effectiveness of available vaccines and antibody therapeutics. Here, we show that the Omicron RBD binds to human ACE2 with enhanced affinity relative to the Wuhan-Hu-1 RBD and acquires binding to mouse ACE2. Severe reductions of plasma neutralizing activity were observed against Omicron compared to the ancestral pseudovirus for vaccinated and convalescent individuals. Most (26 out of 29) receptor-binding motif (RBM)-directed monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) lost in vitro neutralizing activity against Omicron, with only three mAbs, including the ACE2-mimicking S2K146 mAb[1][1], retaining unaltered potency. Furthermore, a fraction of broadly neutralizing sarbecovirus mAbs recognizing antigenic sites outside the RBM, including sotrovimab[2][2], S2X259[3][3] and S2H97[4][4], neutralized Omicron. The magnitude of Omicron-mediated immune evasion and the acquisition of binding to mouse ACE2 mark a major SARS-CoV-2 mutational shift. Broadly neutralizing sarbecovirus mAbs recognizing epitopes conserved among SARS-CoV-2 variants and other sarbecoviruses may prove key to controlling the ongoing pandemic and future zoonotic spillovers.

So if the new variant goes around natural immunity I guess it comes down to a choice. I can risk getting a weakened virus or risk side effects from the shot.

So you are basing getting vaccinated on studies that have only been going on for less then 2 year when it take 5-10 years to properly study a vaccine. It takes longer then that to gather proper data to analyze the disease. The science hasn't been around long enough to prove what is the right thing to do one way or another so don't bring that crap post Judge. It's a risky choice either way and nobody should pretend to know that the vaccine is safe. It's a judgment call and he made his choice and died. He could have died getting vaccinated. He could have died in a wreck on the way to get vaccinated. People die everyday. I think it could be the right thing to get vaccinated if you are 50 plus but it may cause major problems in years to come we don't know.

He was in El Salvador as an “election monitor.” He made a business out of monitoring the elections of dictators as a “US senator,” claiming the elections were free and fair to curry favor with the dictators, then making lobbying arrangements with said dictators. 500k per year from Cambodia.
Wrong place at the wrong time for corrupt reasons, all while unvaccinated.

Well, I'm vaxed. I do however, completely understand why someone might choose to not vax. The same government funded experts who tell us that not all women have ####### are the ones encouraging (demanding) that we all be vaxed. I do not trust fools and don't blame anyone else who does not trust fools.

They have listened to the wrong people who are telling them that the vaccine doesn’t work, that it’s dangerous, or that it’s being used for evil purposes (to control them, track them, make them infertile, etc.).
The vaccine has unfortunately become political, and both sides of the aisle have done a horrible job making it so. Shame on politicians for making this anything other than a public health issue.
Just because we might disagree with someone on non-COVID issues does not make them wrong about the vaccine.

What makes the people you listen to the right people and the people I listen to wrong? I listen to left sided biologist who suggest getting vaccinated may not be the way to go for younger adults. We are not being informed about side effects of the vaccine. Yes they may he less likely to cause hard them the actually disease but we are basically being told that the vaccine is harmless and everybody who is born should get it.

BTW im not anti Vax. I think we should have a choice and be told all the facts about getting it vs not getting it. If I was 50 or 60 maybe I would be vaccinated idk. There are pros and cons to getting it tho and we are only being told the pros.

Not letting people lie to you isn't being anti vax. Im not gonna keep my mouth shut and be forced or shamed into getting a vaccine that I don't need. They are starting to mandate it for children in some places. Sorry I don't want my kids to end up with a feeding tube. I'm not gonna be okay with vaccinating children when they don't need it and the vaccine hasn't be properly studied. Some people may take that risk over the risk of covid but not me. I'm all for vaccinating people if they want it but not for being lied to.

You pass it on even if you are vaccinated bud so don't give me that crap. If the vaccine works then whoever I did pass it on to should be fine anyways correct? This is what is wrong with some of you people. You wanna try to put someone's death on the head of those who are not vaccinated. You should be ashamed for saying anything close to that.

Dear Judge Keller®
Your ignorance does not make you a bad person. Disparaging those who are skeptical of "FDA approved" COVID vaccines is an example of your ignorance. Just 3 days ago, the CDC decided that the J&J vaccine was not safe (causes blood clots) ... but still communicated that the Pfizer and Moderna vacc's were OK.
See below.
Dec. 16, 2021, 3:46 PM EST / Updated Dec. 16, 2021, 7:46 PM EST By Berkeley Lovelace Jr. and Sara G. Miller People shouldn’t get the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine when the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna shots are available, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday. The recommendation, from CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, came hours after members of the agency's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted in favor of the guidance. The panel convened following an update from the Food and Drug Administration on the risk of rare but potentially life-threatening blood clots linked to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Thoughtful skeptics realize that this same CDC and the same FDA which had approved the J&J vaccine in the first place ... approvals which were based on an accelerated clinical trial schedule which had incomplete data both respect to efficacy and safety (TNet me if you need an explanation of what those words mean) ... were also accelerated and inadequate when they approved Pfizer's and Moderna's.
And go figure ... there are many reports of blood clot and related serious side effects (myocarditis and neurological problems) which are associated with the Pfizer and Moderna jabs.
All of this risk for "vaccines" which provide ~ 60% efficacy (i.e., prevent infections) for a condition which has a very low rate or fatality. (The way to handle a COVID infection is via classical anti-viral therapeutics ... lots of vitamin D, vitamin C, zinc supplements, Budesonide inhaler via a nebulizer, and [don't let your heads explode, ye "let's go Brandon" supporters] properly dosed Ivermectin.)
Education is the cure for ignorance, so don't give up on yourself. Just apply yourself and commit to healthy skepticism when getting 'information' from agencies such as the NIH which are now little more than promoters of new pharmaceuticals (since the NIH has a major financial interest in new drugs ... they get whopping royalties from sales of such new drugs).
Good luck you.
x

As I’ve said before, why does it have to be either-or?
Dec 19, 2021, 3:59 PM

I believe ivermectin, vitamin D, zinc, etc. should absolutely be part of the treatment for COVID. It’s a shame how these therapies have been poo-pooed by people. There is absolutely evidence to support their use.
But I think the vaccine should also be part of the recommended approach, because not getting COVID or getting a very mild version of it is still far preferable than getting a full-blown case.
I wish more people would be open to seeing all sides of this, rather than just a one-sided view. It’s literally costed us thousands of lives.

I didn't mix ( nurses asked but I hadn't done any research so stuck, no pun, with what I got first) -had all 3 Pfizer shots - no reactions to any of them unless what I have had all week, 2 weeks after the booster, was related - congestion and cough.

Yes, and there are also reports of people who die in car accidents wearing seatbelts.
Dec 19, 2021, 1:05 PM

But we still know that wearing a seatbelt is much safer than not wearing one, and significantly lowers the risk of serious injury or death when being in a car accident.

I got Moderna first and the Pfizer booster. Ive read various different articles and decided to mix but would say it’s up to you. A lot of what I have read has been encouraging those with JJ first to try one of the others because they’ve had a higher success rate. I’d ask a doctor if your concerned.

Definitely mix and match. Esp since J&J doesn’t seem to be very effective against omicron.

Thought I heard Pfizer was only 25% effective against Omni

And JJ seems to cause blood clots for a certain segment of women. I tell you, this all has the makings of a great Sci-Fi movie but in real life. Only time will tell.....

Mixing is fine and I wouldn’t get J and J again anyways.

Go for Pfizer or Moderna. My wife had Moderna on first two and Pfizer for booster. Just because of convenience really. She had flu like symptoms after second Moderna but none after booster.

I had J&J and then a Pfizer booster. No issues.

That was what the doc recommended because the Pfizer Booster was one full dose and the Moderna booster was a half dose. No idea if that’s still the case but that was his reasoning. I don’t think there’s any concern with mixing with either one.

I did the J&J Pfizer cross. Had no trouble with the Pfizer shot, other than a day of the blahs.

I got J&J in Feruary or March and followed a couple weeks ago with Moderna booster on the advice of my internist. No issues at all.

Fairly certain recent guidelines state you can recieve any of them. Talk to your doctor about potentially starting one of the two dose series . Moderna has been shown to have improved efficacy preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death, at a higher rate. Moderna also has a higher incidence of side effects, but feeling like crap for a day or two is prefferable to the alternative. Again read the guidelines and talk to your doctor dirst as they can give you more complete information.
