transfer list on 24/7. Of the 51 incoming guys, FORTY FIVE were rated 3-star OR LESS by 24/7. The fact that Colorado is having any success now just tells you how bad they must have been before.
Could you imagine the hue and cry on here if Dabo started going to the Portal and signing 3-Star guys? It would be epical.

My mistake. You are right. He was 3* coming out of high school but had a 4* transfer rating coming out of JSU.

That's 60%; that's crazy. What's also crazy is that Coach Prime made some players already there on scholarship hit the portal so he could bring in these transfers, thereby losing their scholarship. What do we think of this?
Also noticed Coach complaining this week about the late starting times (8pm - really?) for some of his games bc they ended so late. So Coach Prime doesn't like playing in Prime Time lol. I liked him as a player as one of the best corners ever, but his talk and tactics as a coach, not so much.

Well in the new age of transfer portal and NIL you may be seeing the first iteration of the formula of mass addition by mass subtraction with no apologies. Colorado will probably be bowl eligible after a one win season.

NCAA has rule that a first year coach can replace players and players who choose to remain as students can retain their athletic scholly and it does count against the 85 limit. So, those who wanted to stay and graduate, could do it on their scholly.

So if they wanted to play AND get their degree, they have to hit the portal and give up their scholarship. He forced them to make a choice. Thanks for the info btw.

it is an interesting strategy to focus more on transfers than recruiting, you can poach the gems that were missed in their HS evaluations and have 3-4 years of experience under their belts. Deon will always have a veteran team, assuming his strategy works.

Primetime is not building a program. He is building a team. He will be gone after one or two seasons in Boulder.
As a high school senior, you gotta be pretty naïve and gullible to go to Colorado thinking that primetime is going to be there very long.
