Heard the Utes QB is out. Plus Florida is an SEC team so they always win. Still waiting plan on watching it.

I hate to say it, but you know FL will be back someday.

Is it this year? IDK

There's a good show on Netflix right now about the urban years.

Not a gator fan but Tebow was a beast.

Where did that beast play in the NFL, I mean that's where the beast go, play, and survive, isn't it?

Just imagine what a Tajh Boyd, a DW4, or a TL16 could have with all the talent that the beast had around him!!!

You seem to be diminishing Tebow because he didn't have a productive NFL career. What's your point about Boyd, Lawrence, and Watson? Two of those three won national championships.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Tim Tebow was an outstanding college QB.

1. He was the epitome of a leader.
2. He made everyone else around him better.

He did not have the physical tools to translate into an NFL QB. He was more akin to a fish trying to dance when he was in the NFL.

3. Heisman winner.***

Great collegiate QB’s don’t necessarily have NFL careers. Florida has had a few like that in the last 30 years.

Also there are guys in the NFL that I would have never thought would make it or even heard a lot about the school they played for.

Tebow was great QB. He was a "system QB". He was nat a pro set QB. He did take the Broncos deep in the playoffs and then got cut.
What did Take Do in NFL? Since you brought it up.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Tebow didn't really take the Broncos anywhere

Aug 31, 2023, 10:28 PM

They had an elite defense that took them into the playoffs - their offense was garbage.

He was an incredible college QB though, and obviously played in a system that perfectly fit his strengths.

This is moronic. Tebow was maybe the greatest leader in college football history. And was just a really good person. He was insanely physically gifted. He was faster than defensive linemen and linebackers but bigger and stronger than safeties and corners. He had a very strong arm and was an accurate passer. And he could make plays happen because he was such an all-around package. He just had a bad release which dooms a quarterback in the NFL. To say that he wasn't a beast is the height of stupidity.

And Trevor had more talent around him in 2018 than Tebow did in 2008. Tebow's championship team: Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey at running back; Percy Harvin, Riley Cooper, and Louis Murphy at wide receiver, Aaron Hernandez at tight end. All were great college players. Only Harvin was any good in the pros. Our team in 2018 was: ETN (NFL stud right now); Higgins (NFL star), Ross (making a name in the NFL), Amari (made an NFL roster again), Renfrow (NFL starter), Kendrick (starting corner).

I was disappointed in the show. They basically let Urban and Tebow decide how to tell their own story.

***Chris Rainey only gets mentioned when they talk about him being a troubled youth and coming over for spaghetti, but not for him texting death threats to his girlfriend, stalking her, and trying to break into her apt.

***Cam Newton is only mentioned as part of an incoming class, but not about him stealing laptops and getting kicked out of school.

***Aaron Hernandez got in a fight at a restaurant, but they don't mention the litany of crimes he committed while there that Urban covered up (until the local paper published it).

There's a million examples. The last two years he was there, they had 41 arrests...forty freaking one! Urban isn't tough, he's a bully and he got exposed in the NFL where he couldn't get away with it. His heart condition was due to the fact that the NCAA was sniffing around his program and he wanted out. ESPN gave him a one year deal so he could wait out the Ohio State or Notre Dame job.

Probably. But,

Won't UF be breaking in a new QB as well?

If Utah can run the ball; things might be equal to a degree. I don't know or care to know much about Florida - but anytime you are breaking in a new QB it could be rough that first game. I don't know what they have around him; but they recruit better than Utah.
Based on so many people on tnet - there is no need to play the game if the other team has more stars(which is total nonsense). But, UF should be favored and likely will win.

Bad thing is; it starts the Sorry Excuse Conference hype train early.

The starting QB for FL is a transfer who started at Wisconsin the past two years. New to FL, but not a new QB, unless you want to say ND is starting a new QB this year.

Utah is still a 6 pt favorite with a 73% chance to win. ( I don't know why, but that is what the bookies are saying.)

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Its because Florida is terrible. Their O/U is 5.5

Aug 31, 2023, 2:12 PM

There is a reason for that.

I can almost guarantee the mighty SEC goes undefeated week 1. Gotta have a good base to develop the rest of the season's story.

Well they can't use the excuse "they didn't want to be there" like they do in bowls since it's a regular season game. They better win! LOL!
