Just a reminder to Tiger fans - Auburn will be a

tougher game than many of you imagine. We have very good players but they have good players too. Some of their players were our targets as recruits a short time ago.
It is in their house and it will be loud like Athens and FSU 2 years ago. We lost those games. In fact I think because of what happened last year it will even be more anticipated and louder than usual in their stadium. The games we played against UGA and FSU in their 80,000+ stadiums were close games. The only other away game in such a big stadium we won in the last 2 years was a close one against USuC where half the stadium was orange.
I see the same close game here. Whatever you think of Auburn's questionable character and ethics, this will have no baring on their game play. I am hopeful we will win because we have the better quarterback and skill players. Despite Steele's failure here at Clemson (where he also had some success against Auburn, FSU, and VT) he will still put a good defense on the field. And you have to wonder what Gus will do with the offense to make it more dangerous than last year.
NO. I am not a Debbie Downer but this game will be a serious test where both teams at 0 and O are seeking their 1st win. Just like opening games against UGA in the 80's this is a serious game and not one to merely chalk up a win for Clemson.
That being said I am excited and can't wait to kickoff the season against those other Tigers.
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going into any team's house is never easy. I was in Raleigh last year and deep in the fourth quarter the Wolfpack had our back against the wall. A win at Auburn will be a tough win!

I don't know if I agree with the close game business. I don't think they have the offense to score a lot of points nor do I think they have the defense to slow down our offense. Their defense will be gassed by the end of the 3rd quarter and I believe our defense will be ready. Our front 7 is one of the best in the nation, despite losing both defensive ends from last year. They will play roulette with their quarterbacks while Watson will have a wealth of targets, a TOP running back, and an OL to make it all happen. I guess we will see soon enough.

I absolutely disagree with both of you on a couple a key points. Yes, it is the opening and strange things can happen, yes they have decent players, and yes it will be loud, and yes it could be close. however, would you like to go position by position and see just how much we totally out class them. Where would you like to start??? QB, RB, TE, O Line, DL, LB's, Secondary??? So tell me and we can do that.
And no I'm not taking it as a "guaranteed" game because nothing is guaranteed in this life. But put simply, if alleles is even in the same ballpark, we have Number 4 and he will absolutely demolish them. Last year I listened to all the naysayers and I was right re making the playoffs and was handsomely rewarded for that. Let's start the 2016 season with some realism---The Tigers are better at every position and in some cases by a large amount. So as far as I'm concerned you can take your skeptical views and believe that as long as you want.

and openers are usually more unpredictable too. the games a month in have fewer upsets. no saying we'll lose but you never know before the season how good a team will be. I've seen us have very pleasant surprises on that and the opposite too

Who remembers the hype before the opening game with another sec team at a neutral site in Atlanta. We'd better prepare like this Auburn game is for the CFB championship.

Hope I'm wrong but I'm with you. I think it will be a tough game. One bad thing about it is for the past 10 years it seems auburn has started the season ranked in the top 10 and now seems like people saying they're not any good so just seems like even more pressure for Clemson.

at least for a while, but the Auburn defense wasn't very good last year and if anyone thinks it's going to be significantly improved under Kevin Steele, I have some beach front property in Kansas I'd like to sell them. Clemson by 10+

"...Some of their players were our targets as recruits a short time ago. " - Oddly enough, those same players would be playing in the NFL THIS YEAR if they had signed with us instead of Auburn. They know that too. Lawson and Adams are two that I can think of. Lawson got injured last year, so he gets a pass, but Adams has not progressed like he would have at CLEMSON - just my opinion.
That said - STEELE is the problem - not the players. They will resemble The Keystone Kops running around lost on most plays. They couldn't stop our O with 11 5* D players as long as Steele is coaching them. We should hang 50 on 'em unless Dabo calls off the onslaught.

I just see no reason to fear a team that almost lost the Jacksonville State last year, doesn't have a quarterback, and graduated about 50% of their receiving yards and their entire LB corps.
Even if their defense is somehow better than Alabama's was last year, I don't see them being able to outscore us.

Tempo. If our veteran and absurdly skilled offense
Jul 12, 2016, 5:30 PM

executes anywhere close to the kind of speedy tempo we know we're capable of, we will win this game going away.
Yes, Auburn is chock full of outstanding athletes as their recruiting rankings over the past five years illustrate, and Jordan-Hare is A-1 tough, but keep in mind that #BoomSpursUpBus had a year with their D bringing them down, and Steele's single off-season will have them so confused they'll forget which sideline to report back to after a play.
If Malzahn has solved several offensive position problems by way of new bodies that fit his system to a tee, then it will be close enough throughout. If any of those pieces are missing, we'll cover the spread and then some.
Go CLEMSON Tigers!

Every game you just mentioned was before we really let the 'Best is the Standard' belief sink in and I believe every game you mentioned we were the under dog in. They expected us to lose those games.
This is a totally different team and we are the Alpha Dog against any and every team in the country this year by a wide margin. This is one of the best teams in the history of CFB. Not some mediocre Clemson team of the past Hoping to overachieve. Best is the standard. We are the best, by a wide margin, it is the new normal. This game will not be close or in anyway a nailbiter unless Deshaun Watson gets kidnapped by an Auburn Fraternity before the game.
We have equal or better athletes at every position, better program, better fans, and better coaches & gameplans plus oh by the way the best player in CFB period. This game is over early in the 3rd Quarter. You can go to sleep early.
Clemson by 10+ and it won't be that close if you watch the game.
Oh, and Auburn sucks. No QB and turrble Defensive Coord hire. #notscaredofAuburnEver.

Let's at least win a national title again before we start proclaiming this is one of the best teams in CFB history and better than everyone else by a wide margin.

Why did you have to remind me of the opener at Georgia in 1982??? My worst football memory in my entire life. Georgia were national champs in '80, Clemson champs in '81 . It was the first night game at Georgia in 30 years and televised. I swore I'd never set foot at Georgia again and I never have! Horrid experience.
