Where to get carbattery.net?

Oct 18, 2021, 9:33 AM

I need a battery test and probably a new battery. I'm very close to an advance, autozone, napa, and O'reilly. Any reason to use one of these over the others?
I could also take it to repair shop or dealer but that seems like a waste unless battery changing is way more complicated than it used to be.

I also may need a car wash now that I think about it...

Back in the 90's, i would take a customer to Hooters

Oct 18, 2021, 9:39 AM

in summer in Chattanooga on Fridays, where the Hooters girls in bikinis washed cars and got all soaped up. We drank beer until 2:00 or so, I would take him home and then I would drive home to Macon.

Needless to say it was a HOOT!

battery. They can also tell you if it needs replacing.

Just don't go to Walmart. I've on my 3rd boat battery from them at this point (replaced under warranty)

I'd pick Advance or Autozone cause they're everywhere.

Oct 18, 2021, 10:08 AM

I've bought Advance battries for years cause they're the closest to me, had good service from the store and the battries. They'll test yours, and if you need one they'll install it.

Let me spill an absolute fact about this post right here

Oct 18, 2021, 10:20 AM

ANYONE who read it and didn't TU it is an absolute homersexual.

Now onto the problem. If you want to, usually Advanced and Orielly pretty close to juan another so you could pop into both and see who's got it cheaper. Might be a special in one of them for the week. They're about the same and usually they'll install it for you for free too. I like advance mainly because the ole country boys in Orielly are just a little slow and the ones in Advanced are older and more on it.

Advanced is fine... not sure if you've priced them recently,

Oct 18, 2021, 10:34 AM

but they're $$$$$.

Order online an use an advanced auto coupon. THey usually have some sort of 30% to 40% off coupon code. Order online and pick up in the store. just google the coupon code... they're not a secret.

I went to Advance and bought a battery.

Oct 18, 2021, 10:37 AM

They said "you want us to install it for you?" I said "sure."

So I stood there while they helped everyone who came in after me, some who required going in the back to look for parts, looking crap up on the computer, walking them around the store to show them where their air filter was etc.

I got a little peeved and just grabbed the battery and left. Then I got halfway down the highway and realized that's exactly what they wanted me to do. I should have stood around in there, right by the register, allfuckingday, and not took my eyes off the attendant. Bonus points if I ask every 3 minutes "hey, you ready for me yet?"

I don't mind replacing a battery, but I figure at $178 out the door, it would have been nice to get that courtesy.

high school girl that I think that's all she does.

Went in there a couple of months ago and bought one, they yelled in the back and said hey Courtney, you've got a battery to put in. This tiny slip of a girl rolled the change cart out and it almost took all she had to lift the old one out and the new one in. But she cleaned my cables (no innuendo cuz HS) and checked everything a whole lot better than the geezers that used to do it.

I was impressed. Tipped her $10

Weird but troo. My local Toyota dealer has oem batteries

Oct 18, 2021, 10:38 AM

cheaper than WalMart or the auto parts places. Maybe check with your respective dealer. You could be surprised.

Toyota batteries (made by panasonic) are actually pretty

Oct 18, 2021, 12:17 PM

awesome. I think we got 8 or 9 years out of the original battery in my 4 runner. And that batteries replacement-an Interstate--I've already gone through 2 of them since then (4 years).

I had a 2005 4runner that was 6 years old that I sold in 2011 that still had the original battery in it as well.

Some Toyota dealerships are doing a "lifetime" battery now.

The '06 BMW that I sold in 2017

still had the original battery in it.

To my dismay, my 4 year old Honda's battery was absolutely shot when it quit running and I had to replace it.

Ugh. I made the mistake of buying a '16 C-Class at the 5yr

Oct 18, 2021, 2:06 PM

mark. Soon found out not only do they have a $300 aux battery, the main battery is another $450.

That was the final straw. Sold it before I had it even a year. The bought a Subaru.

Way to double down on the mistake ??

Advanced did me right once when battery went bad

Oct 18, 2021, 10:51 AM

I think it was like a 3 year warranty? Was having trouble with it keeping a charge, had to jump it a couple times in course of a month or so.

Anyways, I happened to have kept receipt (pro tip: keep receipt, just put it in your car glove compartment with registration and stuff), and when I looked at it, it had like 4 days left before expiration. Took it in, they swapped me out a brand new one. WINNING.
