athletes come to Clemson with all intentions of playing two sports AND, if it helps to get the guy, the coaches of both teams agree. Due to NCAA rules it’s logical they sign a football scholarship (full ride). I am an old man and can think of many athletes that attempted to play two sports but did not excel in both. I think Billy Lott…starting QB that beat Notre Dame in South Bend. He was an outstanding baseball player and was promised he could play baseball but a new football coach arrived and nixed that. Nuke Hopkins was one heck of a basketball player and actually played one year. Sorry to rant so long but the one player that lived up to his expections is Mike Epley from the Charlotte area. Starting QB for two or three years during our Danny Ford probation years therefore we could not go to bowl games. At the same time he was the staring guard for our basketball team. Believe it or not I was told by many that baseball was his best sport.

Agree or not?

It is just that you picked the wrong time to post this type of conversation.

But the few times he was on the court for Clemson you could tell he was out of his element in the college game.

Just too big a skill difference, even if the athleticism was there.

I, too, always heard that his best sport was baseball.

I was a big Eppley fan when he played and always thought he got screwed a bit because of the probation. His execution of the triple option was a thing of beauty that was never fully appreciated.

And.....a very solid point guard too. :)

Go Tigers!
