Truely a band of brothers

These young men and the coaches that they love and respect have been criticized all season. They kept pushing and kept improving. You couldn't see the improvement in the win loss column immediately, but I think it's been evident on the field for a some time now. The players have been given many opportunities by the media to criticize their team mates, and in each case they have shouldered the responsibility of their own mistakes and defended their team mates and coaches. We've seen kids, that are smacking the ball, humbly wait in the wings for their opportunity to shine. We've got some good gloves on the bench, but none have slashed the starters when they've made errors. Clate, Jake, Brody, and Charlie have been in a dog fight for the 3rd and 4th starter position, and they've been nothing but respectful of each other and the coaches. It is true: "adversity produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." So proud of this team, and looking forward to taking some time away from work to enjoy this ACC Tourney.

the baseball program needs the man in charge to sell longevity or the vote of confidence from the admin.
limbo is no where to be.

BigCUFan, I really know nothing about coaching baseball so it would add nothing to the argument for me to critique Coach Leggett or Pep. What I do expect and what I do see is loyalty from players to coaches and from coaches to players and from players to players. Coach Leggett had 11.7 scholarships to divide between 27 of the players and he could offer other young men an opportunity to compete for 1 of the 8 non scholarship positions on the team. After careful consideration Coach Leggett chose these players. In the same way each of these players could have gone anywhere. The 8 non scholarship players could have received full scholarships at a JC or partial scholarships with a less prominent program. Most of the guys that have 1/4 or 1/2 scholarships here, could have had full rides at other 4 yr schools. The handful of guys with full rides could have chosen to go to any school in the country. Obviously these young men and their families chose Coach Leggett for a reason. I wouldn't expect any of them to be anything but loyal and it is a quality that I admire. Your position as a fan is different from that of a player and certainly an AD is in a different role as well. The AD's role is too evaluate coaches, so loyalty to a coach could be a negative trait at times. I am not qualified to evaluate a little league coach - let alone a college coach. I am not a coach. I am simply a cheer leader for some remarkable young men. Go Tigers!

supportive of our program and respectful responding to others.
Whether or not others agree with you isn't important; your support and enthusiasm for Clemson's team is...despite their record or feelings about our coaches.
My compliments to you.

I completely agree! I strive to be a better Clemson fan and this guy and a few others set a pretty high mark to strive for and they do it with class and dignity. Go Tigers!

True! Good point...go Tigers!! BTW...I would highly doubt that any of the players on the team have full scholarships...not enough money to go around if you did that.

I started this thread after reflecting on several post game interviews that I had seen. If you have 4 minutes go listen to today's interviews. Matthew's first question from the reporters was about Reed Rohlman's fielding of Stewart's fly ball in the 3rd. Matthew immediately says: "I think he made a pretty good play." "15 beat me. Stewart's going to be a big leaguer some day and he got me today." Matthew totally focused on his mistake and completely defended his team mate while giving his opponent credit for the triple. When asked about FSU's pitching, he said "Boomer just out pitched me today." When asked about POY award Matthew took the opportunity to brag about his team mates. I see all of the players do this every week. Exceptional young men. I love this team!
