OU no. 1 argument forgets to realize the committee rewards conference championship GAME winners.

Not those that didn't play that extra game vs a stout opponent.
Backing your way into a "Championship" after regular season play, ONLY, shouldn't be rewarded in any form or fashion whatsoever.

Conference champions, no distinction on how it is determined.
To be clear I do not think the conference championship should outweigh a loss so they should be #2, but it does hold weight. Same as UNC should be in with a win against us.

Fine by me. Somehow LSU became ranked again but they only played 11.

The conferences made the movement to championship games, not the NCAA. It was never a requirement, the only rule they made was you had to have 12 teams to hold a championship game. Conferences are free to do either so it is up to them to weigh the options. The committee already made an example of the co-champions, but I see nothing wrong with providing credit to the team the conference deems the champ.

They can't have a conference championship game because there are only 10 teams...must have 12 or more teams to have a championship game per NCAA rules.

should be in the playoffs. Isn't the whole point of playing a game to win? Can you imagine the NFL saying a loss is not a loss for everybody??

To a championship. They actually played every team in the conference unlike all the others who crown a fake champ.

Here's the deal.
OU beat TCU by 1 point (without Boykin OR leading WR Doctson) bc TCU failed on the 2 pt conversion - for the last minute win.
OU beat BAYLOR by 10, playing vs. their TRUE FRESHMAN QB IN HIS SECOND START.
And this is the #1 team in the country? Got it.

Hey I'm on your side here. They lost to Texas. It was bad. ND was using their backup when played Clemson. Clemson best USC by 5 with an interim coach. But....... Clemson also beat ND in a monsoon. OU rallied from 17 down on the road against Tennessee. Each team has their issues to overcome during for the year. Deserving get of a spot or not OU is playing their best football right now.

Clemson had to play without it top returning receiver also. Does that get credit for it close wins against what considered their lesser foes in the league. With him can we say we would have beat everybody by 50pts and get credit. Nope, we have been called out each time when we didn't blowout these foes. Count the same for OU and others as well.

And we're 5-0 against top 25 teams. And best 3 straight top 10 teams on the road. Yes Texas loss was bad but you can't argue they are playing their best and on of the country's best football in November. We can't say that about a few of the current top 10 teams.

Not saying they should be no 1. Not by any means do they deserve to be no 1. But can't deny how well they have played down the stretch.

Again I'm not saying they deserve to be no 1. In my opinion it's Clemson, Iowa, OU, and you can argue who should be 4.

I pulled for Clemson. OU needed some changes last year and if my 1a team had to take them to the woodshed then so be it. I'm a Sooner by birth but a Clemson fan because I grew up in Powdersville and fell I'm love with them at a early age. Please don't ask me who I'm pulling for in the national championship game this year. Im trying not to think about it

I'm not seeing any Big12 team in the top 10. I do see 2 top 10 teams Clemson beat. That bad for us?

I think OU had a lot to say about their poor play. Did Clemson play their best the last 3 weeks?

The best without our full roster and under the circumstance of a young squad dealing with everybody best for being #1. No where to go at the top but maintain by keep winning or down. 10 straight week without a break. Do we get points or credit for that? These young players are not machines. They are still learning how to keep winning. If they all are around in 2 years, then I'll support your cause against lesser foes.

Again. OU should NOT be number one. But wins over TCU Baylor and OK state last 3 weeks are better than any other 3 wins. Depleted or not. OU is not 100% either. They played second half of game TCU without their QB and top 2 RB.

I'm not fan of Oklahoma, but I have no issues with them being in the top 4. The Big 12 plays 9 conference games so Oklahoma will have played the same number of conference games as every other conference champion in the top 4. They also played every team in their conference so by complaining about them not having a title game you're basically upset that they don't have to beat either TCU, Oklahoma State, or Baylor a 2nd time. By not having a conference title game they do only play 12 games, but by playing 9 conference games all that pretty much means is they had 1 less game out of conference, or in other words they had 1 less game against a team like Rice. For anyone who thinks they don't deserve to make it in, may I ask just who you'd prefer be put there? You want the loser out of Michigan State and Iowa? So you'd prefer a team that didn't even win their conference? Ohio State? So you'd prefer a team that didn't even make it to their conference title game? UNC at this point? So a team that hasn't beaten a ranked team and lost to a 3-9 team? A 2 loss Stanford team? Houston from the American Athletic Conference? So you'd want a team from a weaker conference that has a loss to a 6-6 team and no real impressive wins? I just don't see how someone can be upset over Oklahoma being in without thinking there is a more deserving team being left out. I just don't see who that more deserving team would be.

room for OU to be #1 this week.
Would take us, Bama, and possibly Iowa losing our championship games on Saturday to be ranked higher next week.
I say higher because Michigan State would gain by destroying Iowa.
