TNet writers have to be licking their chops... (LONG-ish)

Dec 5, 2022, 11:12 AM

... for these offseason storylines:

-Transfer portal exits and how to backfill their absence? In conjunction with who is available through the portal.

-Addressing Grisham's lack of WR development and poor performance. Speaking of which... What position needs to be created to get Jeff Scott back on this train!? We're a better program with him and Brad involved in recruiting.

- "Trimming the fat" - Could our resources be better spent by consolidating some of the coach/analyst roles that currently aren't as performing as effectively as they should be? ie- Pearman, Grisham, Richardson, Conn, Hall, and anyone related to the coaches/players? If nothing else, it would free up positions that we could use to attract some new blood and ideas to "freshen up" scheme.

-Which contributing players with remaining eligibility will stay and what NIL deals will it take to convince critical pieces to return vs. taking minimally more pay to go pro early?

-Which programs will the coaches be visiting and what schemes are they studying to add wrinkles and adapt/improve our current coaching philosophies?

Maybe I'm in the minority- but I still believe Dabo is sincere when he quotes "best is the standard" and he's willing to make changes to stay on the cutting edge. I can't wait to see how he addresses the above questions, and I seriously hope he accepts the new landscape of transfer portal usage and submits to the reality of the situation before it damages the program any further. Our depth is leaving and we're not replacing it fast enough with our current recruiting/roster management strategies. I don't like the model or disloyalty either... but we just can't bury our heads in the sand and continue to watch our overall talent level/depth decline any further.

I believe Dabo will make changes as he always does to stay current. The rub is his thoughts and the T-net arm chair QB cult wont always agree on what needs fixing. So Dabo will do what he thinks best, we will continue to win championships and the cult will continue to whine.
