League commissioners announce ACC/Big Ten/Pac-12 alliance
“The Alliance,” as it's been informally dubbed, is officially official. After weeks of reports vaguely describing its coming existence, conference commissioners from the ACC, Big Ten and Pac-12 announced the measure Tuesday afternoon, which is a strategic grouping that formed after the SEC fired a w Read Update » |

Agree, it all sounds like a bunch bluffing aimed at the SEC, kind of like firing warning shots from so far away, that it doesn't even reach the bow of the boat, and certainly not across it!!!!

The SEC screwed it up by allowing Texass and Oklahoma in, let them worry about what happens to the rest of the big 12, and if not, they will be solely responsable for those teams down fall all the way to the bottom, and that will become a part of the SEC history for ever!!!

As somebody from Texass, as you call it, at least we are smart enough not to fall for wearing a #### mask. I haven't wasted time wearing a #### mask since the last time I left Texass, again as you call it. You don't mind taking our recruits, though, so stop being an ###.

Yes, I did go to the school in Austin and I am dialed back a whole lot. It's one of the best schools in the country and the richest D1 school. I've told my story on this site before so I am not going to repeat it, but don't attack the University of Texas, please. We've never done anything to Clemson and we've never played each other in my lifetime.

What you have to realize is many middle school dropouts on this site really can't spell and think it is cute to make up names. Do like many of us do and disregard messages that are not properly written.

Do you think the SEC cares if it's "solely responsible for those teams down fall (sic) all the way to the bottom..."??

Exactly.
And why does anyone think the Big-12 leftovers are owed a new home? Those teams don't add enough to increase the average value of media contracts of the major conferences?
They can join the MWC or the AAC or invite MWC or AAC teams to join their conference. Or they can just stand pat with eight teams and collect the huge departure payouts from Texas and Oklahoma.

The SEC wasn't going to turn away Texas or Oklahoma - those are smart additions for them.
But the Big-12 leftovers aren't a problem that the SEC, the ACC, the B1G, or the Pac-12 have any obligation to solve. The rest of the Big-12 needs to solve its own problems, expand, disband, join other conferences that will take some teams (MWC, AAC) or whatever.

What a farce. A gentlemen's agreement. You gotta be kidding. Doesn't mean chit since those three "gentlemen" won't be at the three conferences forever. Can't schedule games within the alliance for years. ACC still stuck with suck ### tv contract. This "alliance" is a laugh in crock of horse manure. No wonder the ACC is so weak.

I feel about this the same way that I felt when Clemson voted in favor of raising the exit fee to $50M.... sick in my stomach. Anything that locks us further in to the All Carolina Conference is a mistake. I know Swafford is gone, but his stink lingers well into the next decade. Also I don't mind scheduling some games with the PAC and B1G, but the teams that I want to see visiting the Valley are much closer than that!

I'm not sure why it would be hard to cancel the out of conference games already on the schedule. Changes happen all the time without penalty. This could be done starting in 2022.

The Schedule can clean up quickly - force ND into the ACC or drop all games with them, all ACC, B1G and Pac12 schools drop SEC teams from their future schedules (sorry but I don't give a #### about the losers in Columbia), and anything left (FCS) drop after 2025 and reschedule with Alliance Teams. That will give them time to pick up other games. I'm sure the SEC will pick up the FCS teams to pad their stats.

But it doesn't hurt the SEC, and they are laughing their A$$ES off while they bide their time to come in and plunk more teams in growing their super conference that leading to the SEC to even get richer by the game that an ACC/Big Ten/Pac-12 alliance will allow them to do!!! I bet that behind the close doors at the SEC pre season get together, they all secretly voted on the teams they feel would help them for a super conference. They aren't done yet, and they are far from it!!!

I guess the SEC can get WVU and Kansas next. That will really help to build their super conference.
The SEC would need Clemson, Ohio State, Oregon and a couple more teams from each Alliance Conference to really be a Super Conference and that won't happen as long as the Alliance holds. Personally, I hope the Alliance holds to block the SEC power grab, mess with ESPN, and get Paul Finebaum to pull out the rest of his hair.

This is a good thing. It keeps the SEC's power at bay....
Aug 24, 2021, 2:46 PM
|
|
.... the alliance will vote one way. Most major changes to NCAA rules require a majority vote of "D1" schools. This insures the SEC will not be able t form such an alliance and vote on things that only benefit them. The power of the three will always trump the SEC's vote.
On the ACC's contract with ESPN, this also helps. Now, there will be more "view-worthy" matchups with all ACC teams, that instantly makes the ACC contract more valuable. Imagine Clemson/USC (the real USC), or Florida State and UCLA, North Carolina and Washington, Miami and Wisconsin....
This is a financially brilliant idea, especially for the ACC.

Exactly. Strength in numbers, 41-16. Sankey wanted a 12-team playoff immediately adopted because he had inside information.
The Alliance can vote to delay an expanded playoff AND it can go out to bid to other networks if they wait.
If the SEC doesn't like it they can have their own regional playoff. As much as their fans might think otherwise, an exclusive SEC playoff would be regional and not have the heft of an alliance playoff.

"Equity" is a marxist doctrine. Try to keep up. From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. Equality of outcome. If you can't grasp that, then either you're pretending to be ignorant or you just are.

you can have great matchups and security.
BTW whenever you see the words "Our Values" its always disguised rhetoric of the progressive left. Which its they who create what those "values" are going to be. CAn you imagine the same folks that run school in california compelling schools in South Carolina to vote for rule/shutdowns/social justice edicts that are for the "greater good?"
Why does everything have to go to this forced capitulation of these backasswards political/social standards? Why couldn't this just be about football or team sports? Why dogma and this new SJW theology? Dabo speaking about his faith in interviews and at university events... big no-no. Wait and see. "The Alliance" will definitely crack the whip. The "greater good".. why are we so numb and dumb to this power play?
This ain't about football anymore. For the SEC its about Football and team sports.. This is about ideology. When i read that the PAC12 is spearheading i almost gagged. THE ACC should be spearheading. They'll have the whole alliance vote to shutdown the league due to each and every virus or sensationalized social stigma.
Be apart of the alliance or be ostracized. Our new norm. I was against all the "join the SEC" talk but not anymore.. WE GOTTA GET OUT NOW!!

Did you not see the agenda? Half of it was around political issues if the day. So it seems to be bringing a political agenda into the alliance. All of those items listed are hot topics in today’s political landscape. The “alliance spokesman” made it political not anyone on this board. They just pointed out the fact.

Interesting times for sure. I don't see scheduling Big10 or Pac12 teams for years because games already scheduled. When, and if, a yearly home game against one of those conferences happens it would be great.

What a pathetic announcement. The SEC is laughing they're collective a55es off at our collaboration "themes". What's next? interior design idea sharing among "the alliance" AD's? If you haven't figured it out yet, THIS WILL NOT END WELL FOR CLEMSON. If you think this "alliance" is not already stocked with schools who will want to "make a statement" by boycotting alliance games for all kinds of imaginary reasons, YOU ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION.
Dan and Dabo better have a Clemson- FIRST plan brewing or this thing we know as a Clemson football will be a shell of its current self inside of a decade - if not sooner.
