Not a "I hate the transfer portal" comment , but it's difficult for me to relate to wanting to be in a different environment year in and year out , as so many of these kids are doing.
Is it the gamble of hopefully finding a starting spot , possibly usurping another player who's been there waiting his turn?
Is it money ? Is it restlessness and anxiety over your time and eligibility running out forever on the game you've played half of your life?
I just can't wrap my mind around it , viewed from the lens of my own life having played football competitively for 8+ years. Of course , this wasn't a thing when I olayed in the 1980s...and I never olayed on a scholarship either.

He was a starter and they brought in a transfer to take his job.

Why would he stay?

We don't even know if they wanted him to come back or if they ran him off.

Not gonna lie, first thing I saw was “Clemson QB in the portal” and the #17 jersey.

My heart sank for a moment thinking it was CV.

If these guys were good enough, they wouldn't have to be transferring to all these different schools hoping to land a starting job, and it is just that simple...

Do you know Bryan Young or Jim Richardson?

They were friends of mine who are also Clemson alums who never sniffed the football field.

Sorry to sound like an old you know what but I see it in my own kids, I see it in my students and I see it in what employers tell me
Many kids just don't want to stay and build a foundation and work from the bottom-up.
They are not all bad kids, don't get me wrong, but every kid in the portal is there for a reason.

I've been wondering about the future of the transfer portal. I was thinking about how NASCAR driver Tony Stewart used to drive a 500 lap NASCAR race and then fly cross country to race in an Indy car later the same day. Could the portal eventually allow a player to play an early game for one school and then a night game for another? Or how about the eventuality of player switching teams at half time? If this ever could happen I hope I'm not around anymore to see it.

I hope I live long enough to see our friends in Columbia be a powerhouse in college football!

I’ll be in the news for real! Can you imagine … a 200 year old Tiger man? WOW!

My kids will be thrilled to see me the news every day. Go Tigers
