If you've ever played really competitive ball like fast pitch softball or baseball, as hitters we will listen to all the wrong advice with an attempt to hit the ball harder and farther, and that's when our mechanics of what we were doing with success gets all screwed up, and it's harder to fix it than it was to get it screwed up, and you actually have to go back to doing what you were taught to do when you first began playing softball or baseball, and that's to keep your eye on the ball all the way through to the catcher, do that and you'll make good contact on the ones you pull the trigger on, and those won't be balls way outside or balls in the dirt. A good hitters swing zone is usually knee high to 8-10 inches below the chest, and most power is usually when contact is made on balls belt high or right below the belt, and usually the sound of the bat on the ball leaves no doubt that you drilled it....

Good points but you almost lost me there you were so wordy. But I got your point. What I saw was late in the season they struggled against rise ball pitchers who were excellent pitchers.

Why didn’t they work on the basics during the off time between the VT and the ACCT? Seems like they are cramming for an exam at this point. I hope it works because they sure need less of the Twitter swings as Coach Bakich would say.

LOL on the twitter swing. There is a huge difference with seeing a 12 inch circumference softball coming at 60 MPH, than it is a 9" circumference baseball coming 85 to 95 MPH, and the size of the two balls and the speed they're coming towards you do make a big difference, but the biggest difference is that the softball is thrown under handed and even though it much slower, to me it's harder to pick up in the shorter distance bc it's being thrown under handed. I've played fast pitch softball, and fast pitch baseball, and for me personally, the baseball is easier to pick up than a fast pitched softball was!!!

The baseball moves a lot more than the softball. Softball is more of a quick twitch kind of swing. As you said it is harder to pick up because of the underhand motion. The way hitting comes and goes is a mystery. The good thing is we know they can get hot at anytime.

I don’t think it’s recoverable this year. Any idea who’s the hitting coach?

Many folks say Rittman, but that’s based on what the rest of the staff is assigned to coach. Maybe it’s like football ST where each coach works with a specific group of players?
