the issue with him coming back another year

is the threshold for the program will be lowered. Like if we improve next year and get into a regional as a 2 or 3 seed it will be considered that he is turning it around. But that is still an overall lesser season for this program.

Rinse and repeat. Every season year end wrap is the same thing. But if DRad stands by what he said 7 years ago then it's no way Monte should return. That said, T_I_P is correct. No sooner than Jack hit the door, the expectations changed. I think a lot of people tend to forget it's not like the program was bad. Every year has been a little worse. Monte's peak was his first year
I don't consider this being a covid year. A covid year is what our football team went through and for most of the season basketball.

I've heard you talk at length about the players you know who are on Clemson's baseball team.
If you know that many players then surely you know how much fall practice and even spring practice leading up to the first games was affected by various players being shut down from baseball activities for COVID.
The entire team was even shut down a couple of times during the fall.
It's not an excuse for losing but pretending COVID didn't impact this baseball season just because you want Monte fired is not an honest take.

I've never said I knew players. And I've never said I knew many parents or grandparents. I also qualified my opinion on a covid year. As I stated, people portray this baseball season as being a covid year like last fall football and even basketball. What I said, it didn't affect baseball in the manner you had players missing games, series getting cancelled like FB and bball.
My point is simple. People post Monte will or perhaps should get a pass because it was a "covid" year. I say that shouldn't be the case.

historic abysmal performance as the measuring stick & when you do better than that, everybody that can't see the "phenomenal" improvement is CLEARLY a [INSERT COACH'S NAME HERE] hater.
There is NO REASON we shouldn't consistently host a regional and every 1 to 3 years be a national seed.
Showing "improvement" next year over this debacle is exactly how you painted it - a fool's errand.

So you don’t know what the team needs to get better at you have to go look to figure it out ? REALLY! This tells me from the get that next season will be a long one also . I believe CML deserves next year but I’m pretty confident it will be his last .

How can anyone say he deserves another year? We just had our first losing season in 64 years. He is clearly not the man for the job, and the change should be made now. Giving him another year is just wasting a season.

So all I got was a success is making regionals and getting smoked in them. Also a lot could come back and should because I don’t see any getting drafted high. Just because you come back or return players doesn’t mean you’re goin to be good. Kind of like Clemson defense in football. Also recruiting classes are suppose to be good and top 10 by “some” so that makes us good automatically? We are 10th in perfect game for 2021 but chandler, mack and Taylor might all come but might not. 2022 we sit 15th monte. 2019 was ranked 20th. Georgia football recruits well but how far does that get them? We also beat a gt team who didn’t care and we swept lville during season and they didn’t play the week prior so.

Has a Monte team ever won a regional? I don’t remember one. The guy needs to go. He has obviously not reached his floor.

but why wait until after the season is over to look at getting better and improving? There's plenty strategy playing decisions and corrections that should have been made during the season.

I know that Coach Leggett was not fired, but as far as I am concerned he was pushed out the door. His last 6 years were a CWS followed by 5 Regional appearances. Keep in mind that the 16 years previous to that contained 10 Super Regional appearances where we advanced to the CWS 5 of those times.
When Coach Lee came in there was an expectation of an improvement over Coach Leggett's final 6 years. Coach Lee's first 6 years have been 4 Regional's, a COVID shortened year, and whatever this was. By no definition was there an improvement.
It is time to move on. I am not knocking Coach Lee as a person. I am not even knocking him as a baseball coach. He had more success with lesser programs than he had here in Clemson. For whatever reason that success has not extended to here. If you are not going to change expectations for a Hall of Fame coach, then you sure as heck don't do it for his replacement. Start the coaching search already.

Lol. When you put it that way, its a pretty clear choice. The only thing i would say is that continuity at coach makes for good recruiting. Recruits want to know they are playing for the coach they have been talking to for the past "x" number of years. I dont want to fire any coach who has been with a program for less than 6 years, but, as youve posted, there really isnt much more to see here. If Drad keeps him another year, there had better been phenominal improvement, such as S.R.

Well isn't that what he is expected to say??? I mean, do you expect him to tell the truth and say he's NOT confident he's the right choice to lead Clemson's program???
