to fire Monte and did not want to go through two coaching searches at once. Sure, he'd take some heat for keeping Brownell, but nothing compared to the heat he'd take if Monte didn't make a regional and was retained.

That’s interesting…I did not know that, actually. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt as he’s closer to the situation. From my distant perspective I would say we could do better, notwithstanding the resource constraints.

Maybe there is another shoe to drop. It is a long time until basketball season and GN is going to get fall out for keeping CBB and firing Monte.

It’s weird that folks were complaining that Neff did not have the balls to fire Monte. Not that he proved them wrong instead of celebrating because they got what the wanted they immediately moved to attacking CBB. This clearly proves many simply enjoy complaining and do not have the success of the programs at heart

I honestly did not think Neff had the backbone to replace Lee. I was wrong and glad I was. This is also a message to certain other Clemson Coaches that he expects top level performance.
Neff is no dummy so he would not have fired Monte without knowing he has a good chance at hiring a very good baseball from a small list he likely maintains.
Hopefully the new coach will be revealed soon.
