This has been Dabos plan all along

I understand that people compare this to the Napier situation but you've got to remember that Napier was part of TBs staff. Dabo promoted him when he was a NEW HC with no experience.

Dabos brought in CM knowing that it was only a matter of time before he received HC offers. I'm sure CM has served as a mentor and teacher to Scott for the past four years training him on how to be successful as an OC.

Scott basically has a bachelors in OC from one of the best in the country. Like learning about black holes from Steven Hawking.

Jeff will continue the success that CM had here and will be GREAT at calling plays. He's been around brilliant offensive minds his entire life.

As for Elliott, this promotion is so that he can gain more exposure and a reward for the great things he's done since coming to Clemson. He's a fantastic recruiter and has done an incredible job with coaching our RBs.

I can't wait to see what these two do for our program moving forward.

I agree completely! One thing that people don't take into account as far as the Napier decision, it is near impossible to get an OC worth having to come to a school and coach beside a first time head coach. Coordinators, just like any assistant, want job security and at that time there was no security in being the OC here.

Dabo understood that in hiring Morris that it wouldn't be long term and that he needed someone on staff to learn the ins and outs of our offense. Dabo stated it last year, "This is a Clemson offense". It's the same philosophy that has made Oregon successful. The coach or coordinator moves on, they keep on rolling with the same offensive philosophy that made them successful.

One thing that I do notice that Dabo is doing, he's promoting coaches that are Clemson grads and that is extremely important for the long term here. If Dabo decides to leave one day, let's say for Alabama if they offer him, then we have former players in positions to take over our program and continue to lead us successfully. Great moves by our HC and we should all be extremely happy about the direction our program has taken under Dabo's leadership!

GO TIGERS!!!!!
