Here is the BCStandings After This Coming Saturday

Great things happened tonight that needed to happen for clemson to continue moving up. We are bye this week but we will actually move up in the polls. I know this will be the standings (considering alabama doesnt lose to lsu and fsu beats weak forest) .....if alabama and fsu both lost that would be fantastic but it isn't probable. so after thursday tonight games both Baylor and Stanford beat their opponents. This is what the bcs Standings will look like come Sunday (unless fsu and or bama get beat) #1 Alabama #2 FSU #3 Stanford #4 Baylor #5 Ohio State #6 Clemson #7 Oregon
Stanford was already 5th and they played a 3rd rank oregon. Ohio State is basically the new boise st and louisville, a team that plays a cupcake schedule and just gets in the way of everyone else and their undefeated record is just as good as fresno state and illinois state undefeated teams. You can put ohio state with fresno state and illinois state and they are all undefeated from beating horrible teams. Why Ohio state is 4th? There shouldn't be preseason rankings in the first place. Whoever did pre season rankings probably made a lot of money but made the game bias.
Anyways, so yeah Oregon will fall one spot below us simply because The team we lost to FSU is higher ranked than the team Oregon lost to which is Stanford. Common sense puts Clemson in front of Oregon. So going into the Georgia Tech game we are no worse than 6th in the BCS. A lot can happen to get us to that #2 spot. Stay focused. once again #1alabama #2Fsu #3Stanford #4Baylor #5 Ohio State #6Clemson #7 Oregon

Personally, I don't think Oregon is going to drop below us. The fact that they were able to come back and make it a game at the very end will keep them above us IMO. We got blown out at home. Though they were dominated most of the game, Oregon lost a close one on the road.

you may be correct. I just thought that the computers would put Clemson above Oregon because we both lost a game and the opponent we lost to is higher ranked than the one that Oregon lost to.

FSU moving up will help - hope we will move ahead of Ducks?

Winning out will take care of business - esp. beating coots! Playing like we did against LSU and we can!

The computers are only one third of the BCS.

Oregon will probably stay above Clemson in the human polls, which are 2/3 of the BCS formula.

If humans use common sense and logic

then they too will vote Clemson ahead of Oregon because like I said, Clemson lost to the #2 team in the nation, Oregon lost to the # 5 team in the nation. Style points don't matter. Clemson lost to a better team than Oregon, so common sense also puts Clemson at #6 and Oregon #7

Also, Clemson lost to a 0 loss team. Oregon lost to a 1 loss

So I think that also makes the idea that Clemson could stay ahead a bit more feasible.

we will not move in the polls. Ore will not fall below us. Our only chance of moving up was if Okla beat Baylor and/or Ore beat Stan. or both.

The thing is, Stanford was wayyy behind OSU last week.

I suspect they will stay behind OSU in the BCS even after beating Oregon b/c the human voters are going to have it Bama, FSU, Ohio State, then Baylor and Stanford fighting for 4th. Oregon will be 6th in human polls and still ahead of us.
My guess for the BCS assuming nobody else gets knocked off:
1) Bama 2) FSU 3) Ohio State 4) Stanford 5) Baylor 6) Oregon 7) Clemson
So really no change for us at the moment.

I guess the Stanford lost to Utah means nothing?

If you really look at it, their lost to Utah was worse than Oregon's lost to them!!! And certainly worse than our lost to FSU.

They've also beaten Oregon, UCLA, ASU, and Wash.

That's the best resume of wins in the country. Of course the Utah loss is hurting them. That's why they won't be #1 in the BCS Sunday Night. Without the loss to Utah they would the clear #2 in the human polls, perhaps even with some first place votes, and the computers would easily have them #1, so they would have a great shot at #1 in the BCS.

The Utah loss haunts Stanford later

Why Stanford is #5 in the first place after losing to Utah is beyond me but that was the case and they beat a #3 Oregon so you Have to switch them places. It is just further proof that the current system is not accurate. Later in the season if they were comparing losses between lets say Clemson, Oregon and Stanford. The Utah loss would be an eye opener. Clemson would be favored over all of those teams because we lost to the second best team in the nation. Our answer and logic as to why we should and WILL be above those teams is simply......"We lost to a better team". You can't put Oregon in front of Clemson for this very reason, it just doesn't make any sense at all.

strong wins? You have to look at both.
I know UGA was a much better team when we played them than they are now, but Oregon is still a far better win right now. Then our next best win is who???? They have wins over Arizona State, UCLA, and Washington.
Choking at Utah is probably a bit worse than getting blown out 51-14 at home to FSU, but Stanford has definitely proven they can step up and win big games.

No way we jump Oregon, but as I said in a thread yesterday, movement in the rankings is totally unnecessary now. We've got our path carved out for us, we just need to keep winning. It won't matter if we're still ranked #7 after the final week of the season, we'll be headed to the Orange Bowl as long as we keep winning and FSU keeps winning.
