The 'say something nice, then nasty,' about Dabo thread.

Dabo is one of the best recruiters of players and coordinators in the world.
Dabo struggles to keep his players on an even keel emotionally. While instilling confidence he just doesn't seem to know when to slow down. Would training wheels help?

I love Dabo because he is a man of God and is not afraid to make changes with coaches.
I hate when Dabo loses to the coots and we need to win it this year.

jus kiddin. another loss or two, to the coots and I'll lobby for BV or CM to replace him if he hasn't fired them and blamed them for the losses already.
I wouldn't say that if he wasn't on vacation.

I think at 8-0 the players though they couldn't lose.

They became over confident and lost. I believe Dabo was pumping them up and overinflated their egos enough that they lost focus.

That's one theory.

Who knows if it's accurate or not.
They did play better earlier in the year. You would think if your theory was true they would have regrouped after the first loss.
My theory is...teams learned how to attack our defense as the year wore on and because the scheme was not right for our personel there was not much we could have done to prevented it at that point.
I also think we had a favorable matchup against VaT and would have won again if we played them a third time. The opposite is true with WVU.

valid.
But in the incessant postings about Dabo, I get the feelnig the pumpers think he's greater than he is and the dumpers think he's worse than he is.

You know, it's not really hard to spot a pumper or dumper.
Jun 29, 2012, 2:15 PM

I just wanted some opinions from the average fan. The average pumper can't see fault with our inexperience HC and the dumpers can't say anything nice about him.
My hope was that the question and comment would cull through the bullchit and it did.

+++++ Dabo is a world class recruiter, esp. at skill positions--maybe the best in NCAA D1 football today!
+++++ He has made some truly outstanding hires in the past 18 months.
------ He really needs to keep the rah-rah crap to a minimum. Wonder if the AU football team is still watching continuous loops of the cheesey post-game "No better place for the streak to end, baby....We have greatness in us" speech?
------ IMO jury still out on game management (down/distance, etc.) skills

Naughty: The Orange Bowl debacle. Nuff Said.

and its potential.
I don't appreciate him giving pre-game interviews like he did last year before the Ga. Tech game where he acts smug to the reporter and basically says we're an elite team.

Dabo 'earned' his stripes playing for Bama on a championship team. He shows that attitude even today.
If Dabo couldn't recruit, or had not changed OC and DC, then we'd probably only win ~ 5-6 games per year - and NONE against decent teams.
