The Real San Fransicko
Dec 31, 2018, 11:17 AM
|
|
1. Home of Diane Fienstien and Nancy Pelosi 2. San Fransicko handed out 4.5 million free needles to drug users this year 3. Rampart drug use in public areas 4. Drug paraphernalia lying all about used needles and syringes 5. Large tent camps everywhere of drug users and dope heads 6. Every nook and cranny smells of urine 7. Covered in human feces, so bad city has a poop map 8. A once beautiful and charming city ruined by progressives

The homeless and drug addict epidemic has become so extreme that people defacate right on the streets. It’s also a sanctuary city. It’s declined badly over the past 10 years under liberal policies. Very sad.

I went to San Francisco for work last year for a week.
I was completely shocked by the number of homeless people and prostitutes everywhere. You couldn’t walk around without being harassed by them (luckily being female, the prostitutes left me alone). We stayed right in Union Square so I’m going to guess it was worse there than other places. There were also so many people in the tourist areas that it just got annoying.
I couldn’t wait to leave the city.
I will say, there are areas around there that are absolutely wonderful and worth visiting. I loved Sausalito, which was just a ferry ride away. And Muir Woods is way cool and refreshing.
I will personally never go to the city again, but I’d happy to go back and visit other places around there.

Happy New Year to you too... so someone is trying to give other fans a heads up on SF and you resort to calling them an idiot? calling people idiots dilutes your point. SF is a mess, truly a mess, stats do not do it justice. Homeless is not the same as their world conditions in the heart of a once gem of a city... I won't stay there; and yes I've been there many times. Even the Embarcadero is affected... once one of my favorite places.

being in 2013. My last 2 trips out there I saw a major decline of this once proud city. My first 2 or 3 visits back in the late 1990's I actually fell in love with this place. Today, I have no desire ever to visit that cesspool again. The libs have destroyed this city. Socialism does not work. SF is a perfect example of it.

Did you know...
Santa Clara is where the game is played. Santa Clara is about a 45 minute drive from San Francisco? There is no need to go to San Francisco... San Jose is much closer - a 10 minute drive. In fact, the San Jose airport is practically across the street from Levi's stadium.
In any case, yes San Francisco has problems, but not really worse than any other top 10 US city. Stay in the tourist areas and you will be fine. Avoid the Tenderloin district. Expect everything to cost WAY more than you're used to.

because murders happen all over the US. Greenville has had shootings... Anderson has had murders. Yes, even in Clemson have people been murdered.
Go ahead and ostracize a city due to your personal beliefs, but it isn't a good look for you. EVERY town/city has its problems. ALL of them can be blamed on the actions of their leaders. If you are looking for perfection in any place, you won't find it.

@Silanus You are proving my point with your ignorant statements RE liberalism. Please, show me this conservative utopia city in which you mist live. Please- I’d like to visit some place and see no drugs, homelessness, and competent politicians running the place.
and @GWPTiger, you must be stoked that the game isn’t in Chicago, Baltimore, DC, or Miami.
My point is two fold: 1.The game is not in San Francisco. You don’t even need to go if you hate it.
2. San Francisco is no worse in the aforementioned areas than any other big city.
For the record, the place to be homeless is Hawaii.

I live in Charlotte and drive for Uber all OVER the metro. I have never once seen poop or needles on a city street. I also very rarely see homeless people congregating in a large group or harassing people for money. Charlotte has plenty of poor areas, but is very clean relatively.

San Fransisco. I was merely pointing out that staying in the tourist areas doesn't necessarily mean you'll be fine, that has nothing to do with my personal beliefs. But since you brought it up, my personal beliefs include my opinion that San Fransisco sucks along with the rest of the bay area and I wish I didn't have to travel there as often as I do.

Or “wrong” parts, then. Charlotte can be as dirty and dangerous as any other place.
The funny thing about cities is that there are good parts and bad parts to each of them. Knowing where you are and where you are going is important.

Nope, no, false. It really isn't. There are bad areas of Charlotte (west charlotte, north charlotte, pockets of east charlotte, etc.)
Charlotte is way safer and less dangerous than Atlanta for example.

yes, if it weren't for the 1 person shot by an illegal immigrant last year, there would have been no gun deaths at all. Seriously, dude, if you are living in South Carolina, you just need to shut up about gun violence and women getting shot. We lead the nation in domestic violence.

based on the worst areas of North Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, Anderson or rural trailer parks.
Business and tourist areas such as Main Street in Greenville, historic downtown Charleston, Hilton Head or Kiawah may be nicer? I have traveled extensively and found it beneficial to know the good areas from the bad in every city.

Why support California when you can exploit it?
Thats the mentality I take. There are a lot of very, very bad people living in that state who are pushing an ideology that is totally destructive and regressive. There isn't a single facet of the Progressive/Leftist ideology that leads to any form of wealth, prosperity, or happiness. They are destroying that state, and quickly.
However, that doesnt change the fact that, for now, California is still an amazing place filled with high quality people and places. Some of the experiences you will have in California are amazing. In my experience, California prides itself on excellence and quality in the things they do right. Its a beautiful place, dont let the filth thats rotting it away detract you from that while it is still a beautiful place, because one day, it will be an absolute sh1thole and you will have wished you experienced the very special things that used to exist there.

Took the family for vacation last year. Stayed at the Ritz near Union Square. It was a blast and we walked dozens of miles but the homeless problem around union square is unreal. And the smell of pot is so strong 24 hours a day. It was sad how far it went down from 2012 to 2017.
We still had a great trip but certainly not a family vacation I would recommend to those who are bothered by thousands of strung-out homeless people sitting and laying wherever they want.
I'm staying in San Jose this weekend which is the best place to be for the game by far.

I saw a lot of homeless like a whole lot, but no poop. I stayed in the tourist areas. I did see some needles on the ground. I would go back. I was born near there and have been there quite a few times over the years, but it had been about 20 years this last time.

Stay in San Jose or maybe Hayward. Need to take a warm coat if you go into SF. Stay out of Oakland. All the city states have stay away areas.

As someone mentioned you can go directly to San Jose & Santa Clara (Levi's Stadium) without stepping foot in San Francisco.
If you find your way to San Jose before gameday there's some great local things to do including a few walking tours planned around the game.

3. Define “rampant”. Quantify it in % of population. 4. Generalization, therefore false. I can show many clean places. 5. See 4 6. See 4 7. See 4 8. Opinion

Because 100 users may sound like a lot, but it is only 0.1% of the population. The 10 users in your small town could be a much larger problem.

"Rampant" would need to be defined by population. 100 people out of 1,000,000 is not as bad as 10 people in 1,000. Appalachia has a much worse drug problem than the major cities. You may not like it, but it is true.
I don't care if you don't like San Francisco, hate it all you want. There are plenty of reasons to not like it. Just not like it for the truth and not some BS created by someone who has never been and is afraid to leave his own county.
Travel - it will expand your understanding. This thread illustrates the divide in America. People are so dug into their own system that they are incapable of listening to what others are saying. I've not defended anything political, what I am doing is confronting lies with truth.

it is the only place in public I have ever seen them. I walked from the wharf to chinatown which took me off the beaten path for just a few blocks. I'm sure I went nowhere near the bad side of town. I didn't really see homeless tents lined up but there were groups of them and obvious public drug using.

My sister and her husband have lived in the Bay Area for over a decade now (other than some short jaunts to Alaska, Portland and Seattle). I was speaking to them about it and what it's like (just had a work trip to Portland, which is an absolute 5hithole). My BIL was like "Now, Santa Clara is really nice. It's nothing like San Francisco.." but then he went on to say that the derelicts seem to migrate to the stadium for big events, looking to take advantage of the situation and influx of tourists. No doubt it's going to be rougher than what we're used to. Probably fairly similar to our last trip to Camping World Stadium in Orlando, for those who made that trip to the ACCCG.

As someone who spent 20 years of my life in SF, I can honestly you are an idiot. Yes, so many billionaires and the wealthiest Americans are there because it is just so awful. Yeah, you have proved you are an idiot and anyone who gave you a thumbs up is an idiot. You don't know the city at all. Then again, you were probably one of the imbeciles that thought Mexico was going to pay for us to build our wall.

San Fran sucks, and I stay away at all costs.

I think I've been there 2x for music in 6 years. Oakland is better, San Jose is nice. The climate of SF attracts the homeless, not sure how the politics plays into it. My wife always says standing at Point Reyes and looking back on the city that SF reminds her of a 3rd world slum.. And we lean liberal

and what you listed is pretty accurate. However, Santa Clara is nearly 60 miles from San Fran. It is a world away from the things you speak of.

You are just ignorant idiot. You're a commuter who knows nothing and doesn't even live in SF. Kill yourself. The world will be a better place.

How about you 1st Carlsbad, what a little boy you show yourself to be. Man, some folks need a good throat punch to set them right and you are one of them.

I went to SF about 2 years ago. I fell in love with the city and its wonderful climate. Parts of it are absolutely gorgeous! The golden gate bridge is a must see!
However; this was the first large city that I have been where I felt very uncomfortable for my safety in broad daylight in "tourist areas". There were people who were homeless and either high or mentally ill acting very strange around the whole city. When I tried to take a picture in front of the fisherman's Warf sign one tried to grab my phone and get in the picture. Another made a scene on the bus and kept yelling that he molested his daughter and taking his shoes off and shoving his feet in the other bus riders faces. Most people got off several stops before Pier 39 and walked to avoid being on the bus with him. I felt bad for the driver as he could not bail with us.
I have not had a similar experience in other big cities like New York City Atlanta and Houston. Be careful if you go.

Don't forget inhaling the second hand pot smoke while waiting in line with your family for a cable car while some crazy homeless guy yells at you. Also, unless you reserve in advance, forget about seeing Alcatraz. I see where it's already sold-out for Sunday. Muir Woods may not be open due to the government shutdown, or you may not want to visit anyway since no functional bathrooms and no staff on duty.
I do highly recommend the Exploratorium on Fisherman's Wharf for families. You can spend all day there. https://www.exploratorium.edu/ Golden Gate park is also worth a visit.

I was there in mid 2017. Wasn't as bad as people are saying.

I did get cussed at by a rather aggressive homeless dude and it was pretty dirty, but it wasn't all that bad, and I walked pretty much the entire city...including the outer edge of Tenderloin, by foot.
I feel like San Francisco's not the place to be if you're a Trumptard snowflake.
If you like good food, good beer and good bud, it's actually pretty sweet.

Been to San Fran, albeit several decades ago.

Places change. I'm not going to believe anything until I see it. But I've traveled a good bit. Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte, NYC, Chicago, Dallas, San Fran, Seattle, Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Kansas City, Boston, DC, LA, New Orleans, etc.
Also been to Sydney, Madrid, Tangiers, Milan, Florence, Venice, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Zurich, Bern, Munich, Athens, Rome.
ALSO, been to Guatemala, St. Lucia, Mexico, Belize, for some perspective.
For me, I tend to think of "bad" and "good" differently than most people in this post. For me, personally, I tend to not judge a place by the level of poverty, but by the PEOPLE who live there, in poverty OR wealth. I've stayed in the nicest hotels in Europe, and in hostels. I've been to champaign New Year's gala's and stayed in huts with dirt floors in the jungle with 3 hours of electricity from a generator each day. ALL cities have poverty. ALL cities have crime. ALL cities have slums and palaces. ALL cities have rich and poor people.
I can say, for an absolute fact, as Americans we have a serious hangup with wealth versus poverty. There are places in the world where NEITHER is seen as bad or good. Amsterdam is probably the cleanest, most beautiful city I've been to in Europe. And then you can go and smoke weed wherever you want, buy it openly, and then go #### a prostitute who takes credit cards. Then you can take a place like Venice. It's a dump. It's flooded half the time, the water is NASTY, and getting around is a big PITA. Paris, people #### on the streets and have restrooms completely in the open and totally unisex. In Morocco a woman can't even wear short shirt sleeves. Forget shorts. Women are treated as second class citizens in Morocco to an extent no black person has ever witnessed in America, at least since the 1960's. Then you have a place like Belize City, which combines an urban area with unimaginable poverty, and crime that's out of control (when I visited). Same country, Belize, AND Guatemala, also have some of the nicest, friendliest, and overall happiest people you'd ever want to meet, living in complete poverty. BUT, in a rural area. Even here in SC. The urban/rural poverty situation leads to VERY different people. In big cities in SC, people who live in poverty are not as friendly as the same people who live in the same poverty in rural areas. The urban/rural difference is bigger IMO than the wealth or even race difference, and this applies the world over. Humans were never designed to live in cities. Just my $0.02. As for San Fran, as with any place, I judge the city by the people and not the poverty, or wealth, race, cleanliness, or politics.
