Welcome to the "new" NFL. Someone the caliber of Mike Williams only being

able to get a one year deal from the lowly JETS is puzzling. I realize he is coming off a knee injury, but those are almost commonplace rehabs and returns to form these days. And, he is still only 29 years old. NFL owners are getting tighter and tighter with the purse strings, at just about every position except quarterback.
I don't think the economics of signing these QBs to these incredibly expensive deals is sustainable. In fact, you are already seeing many of them having to modify those deals yearly, to afford their teams the opportunity to put enough good players around them to field at least a semi-viable team. Good, sometimes GREAT players get jettisoned to free up money. Performance on the field has nothing to do with it. Sad times, indeed.
I hope Mikey can make the most out of his one year in New York, and move on to greener pastures after next season.

Last year was the only year really where he missed significant time. He played in 13 games in '22 and then 15-16 each season prior to his rookie year when he was trying to work his way into the lineup.

The knee injury isn't his first injury, this seems like a very normal situation

for someone like him. He may have had other offers with longer, non-guaranteed contract. Many times guys in his situation fighting for one more somewhat larger deal bet on themselves to have a good year then sign an even bigger 2-4 year contract next season. Wouldn't be all that surprised he's doing that.

Maybe Mike just wanted one year with Aaron Rodgers!

Maybe all the time he has left in reality. Has to be close to retirement.

Why is it puzzling? The draft classes for WR's are seemingly deeper every year. When there are more rookie starters available the worth of an almost 30 year old WR coming off an ACL injury diminishes.
His 14 million is still in the top 32 of all WRs which is accurate for his on field performance. He is a clear WR1 but isn't an all star

Also, they are going all in for one more year of Rogers. Don't want to commit to more than 1 season when a full offensive rebuild is probably to follow

Dark Vanisher this time around? I certainly wouldn't want to be on him remaining healthy, even MOST of the season, at his age.

The NFL is about salary caps and finding room for a player with injury issues is sometimes tough. A team cannot win a title without a top QB and the money QBs receive reflects that.

It's only due to his past injury history. Hopefully he has a monster year

on this 1 yr prove it deal and gets a long term contract with a good team.
PS 15 million dollars for 1 yr of work is a great deal, even if it's in new york. lol

Unfortunately NY taxes will dwindle that number down pretty quick.

Jets aren't considered to be lowly. They are possible contenders. He has also had a history of injuries and I believe he is almost 30.

They are possible contenders but after the season starts not so much. That franchise has been a dumpster fire for many years. I think AR is a great QB but not sure if that ends up making them relevant in the end.

They have a good D and are adding pieces. They are definitely expected to go to the playoffs. Winning it all is pushing it seems though.

A lot of good competition out there.
Injuries is inevitable but it stings a little more when you are paying them the kind of money they are making.
Looks like SF had accounting errors and cost themselves a pick and a step down in the order of picks. Costly mistake.

It is unfortunate, but his durability is his weakest ability

When healthy, Mike is as good a deep threat as there is with his size.
Here is to a healthy and big season with Aaron Rodgers as his new QB. Think about the money he will command after this 1 season if he can put up a full season of stats.
I love that he is betting on himself with a 1 year deal, and 15 million is a huge contract!!
