Does disaster have to strike again???

Nov 6, 2022, 12:20 PM

or was the Notre Dame game enough??........serious question. With the strategically designed goals set forth by Dabo years ago it opens up to a, what I'd like to believe is a very unlikely hypothetical situation.

Win the opener - check
Win the division - check (on a night where we got embarrassed)
Win the state - soon to be check
Win the conference - possible
Win the closer - possible
and the unwritten goal that the coaches and fans all like to hang their hat on..........10 win season, kinda watered down when you get 14 chances to do it, but not bad.

Theoretically, we could lose the next two games and Dabo still can say "this staff and players accomplished every goal" and continue with the status quo..........do multiple disasters have to happen in one season to force Dabo's hand to make a change? Or was ND enough?????

Much like:
2010 parting ways w/ Napier......which led to an IMMEDIATE Offensive infusion
2011 parting ways w/ Steele........which led to an IMMEDIATE Defensive infusion

The difference is that Dabo had a fire then that I don’t see now.

I used to think that he had developed a certain confidence over the years, and that’s why he seemed less hungry, but now I’m concerned that it’s a complacency on some level. If so, it’s probably crept in, possibly on a subconscious level.

Don’t get me wrong, I know he’s still a competitor who works really hard and wants to win. I just think all of our success might’ve caused him to credit the culture he has built more than he should’ve.

Of course what our program stands for is important. We should be very proud of that. But it’s also about having the best coaching staff and best players, and we are lacking that (especially the coaching part).

now he doesnt care..he knows he is here for as long as he wants to be with two national titles and winning 9+ games a year due to being in a weak sauce conference ...its why he seems to be against leaving the acc when its brought up to him about going to the sec or something..in the sec he would have to actually coach to win games and not get by on talent alone.

We deserve better with the money we spend, as go outside and BUY some real coaches , O/F & D/f, not these rookie want a be coaches.

I think multiple disasters have to happen like losing to Louisville, SC, and ACC Championship. It will take much more adversity to get the stubborn side of Dabo to take notice.
