This season is playing out as expected for a Brownell coached team.
Hoping for a change. Id love to see Clemson competing in the NCAA tournament again on a yearly basis like OP did.
Excited for a change.

Clemson would have to start caring about basketball first. The lack of success doesn’t lie at the feet of Brownell alone. Clemson has no commitment.

Dating back to the the construction of Littlejohn, Clemson has invested heavily in basketball. Basketball has over 100,000,000.00 in improvements and budgeted improvements in the past 8 years alone. The return on investment has been poor, but the investment has not been.

So the 60 plus million renovations to little John less than a decade ago. The 40 million package for facility upgrades coming up do not equal any commitment to basketball?

That is an argument that has been beaten to death but in reality is false. We may not spend as much as some schools but to say Clemson does not care about basketball is only something JK can argue to defend the coach. Not many in Realville believe that BS.

I’m not using it to defend Brownell. It’s just one example. Brownell still being the HC is another example. There are decades of examples.

Here we go, the old, “let’s blame lack of success on the fans” excuse. I can tell you, I didn’t see a lot of lack of commitment on the part of the fans during the Purnell years. Littlejohn was packed every time I went. The only lack of commitment is putting up with mediocrity for seven years too long during the Brad Brownell era. I’m not sure what compromising information he has on the University, but it has kept him employed.

If they make tourney it wont be as a 5 or 6. This is as loaded a team as Brownell has had and whenever he plays a team with a pulse its absolutely brutal to watch.
He will beat up on teams that suck though to be good enough to keep a job. Thankfully Neff set the bar last season with an NCAA bid or he is fired. The way this team is playing they arent making the tourney

Uh, that was the bar Neff set last year but then decided "we were a tournament team in my mind". I don't think he has set an imaginary bar for this year.

What difference does it make if Clemson makes the NCAA? Brownell can't beat good teams on the road or at home. It will be a first round loss. The next four games are all winnable. Brownell will be lucky to get a split.

How would we know. We’ve squandered our entire era as a top football program and all the financial possibility that brings on Brownell. 14 years. It’s insane.

I believe viztiz® is rightfully saying that Dabo returned Tiger Town back into Winnersville! The school and town had lots of cachet from 2015-2020 due to football success. That cachet can transition to other sports. And looking at soccer, golf, softball and other sports, it has helped.

Brownell holds stats because of how long he has been here. His stats are a result of the longest leash of any D1 basketball coach
That cant be argued. Its fact.

He’ll make the tourney and get bumped back to a 5 year deal. Neff kept him because he “should have” made the tourney. He’s not going to fire him when he actually does. The ACC is awful. We probably only lose 4-5 more.

Here is the example of the uninformed basketball posts on Tigernet about basketball.
OP is still waiting to win his first ever NCAA tournament game.
Let's see how this season plays out as it is sill very early.

Do you want any kind of wager on how things may turn out? Have you been around this program for longer than a couple of seasons? Does it have to be repeated for 20 years before a light bulb kicks on for a few folks. I love Clemson and hope we win out but many on here have already seen this movie too many times. Here is to hoping I am wrong in being pessimistic.
I did think if things were actually getting better we would beat UNC at home. If this game would have been on the road I would have expected this result!

I’m a see it to believe it kind of person. I don’t get overly excited or confident about our basketball team based on the games I’ve seen until later in the season after they prove it’s gonna be different this year. Again I have reason to doubt this year but I’m still hoping it will be different than previous years. I’m either optimistic or a glutton for punishment.

!980 That's the truth. It's not just BB. It's been this way through a string of coaches. Win a bunch in December then fall apart when the ACC schedule gets under way. Seen the movie so many times since 1980 that the video tape is worn slap out.
