The Anti-Cade crowd

Oct 23, 2022, 1:20 AM

Yall don't understand what kind of talent this kid is or why he "looks green". The kid went 30-0 in the state of Texas and lives for the game. He's going to be special the "green" comments are hysterical bc yall are saying he can't pass bc he only completed 2 passes of 4. All of them but 1 were predetermined reads. He showed elusiveness in the pocket and an ability to extend plays. Yea he was gun shy, he just came in cold to take over bc his senior turned the ball over 3 times. On top of that he's not calling the shots, Streeter did not want to risk anymore turnovers. They put Cade in knowing they were gonna run the ball and wanted speed at QB so they could take some of the focus off the rbs bc cuse was keyed up on the rb almost the entire game.

DJ is the guy bc Dabo says so right now, but next time Cade is in give him the same treatment you gave DJ allow him to grow.

Just to clarify I'm not saying bench DJ. I'm reading alot of people on this board act like Cade is garbage off the smallest sample possible, eventually Cade will be the starter at Clemson like it or not. May very well be after DJ graduates might be in 2 weeks who knows but it will happen.

I don't see any evidence to support your comments. If there is an anti-Cade crowd, it is one that barely exists. Cade's time will come and no true Clemson fan is unhappy about that.

How do you know what we do or do not understand? Seems you are confused as our fan base loves both Cade and DJ but most of all we want to win games and compete for a championship. The question is which one gives us the best chance and the jury is still out at this time

No real Clemson fan is anti-Cade and I don't think anyone is questioning his talent but not every great player adapts to the college level immediately. Let’s be honest about it, we had two generational quarterbacks in a row who could play as true freshmen and that spoiled the crap out of us as a fan base. Now there is a bit of an expectation that we can have that happen again but that isn’t normal.

Cade has all the tools and potential to be awesome and given time he will get there but he isn’t there yet.

T-Law made plenty of mistakes when he was put in

During his freshman year and he didn’t really start improving until he was named the starter and was practicing with the first team. He made a lot of the mistakes that Cade is being criticized for.

There is certainly a good bit of truth to that but I would argue we have a different situation now vs back in 2018. Kelly Bryant started those first four games and showed little change from the previous year. It was obvious that even with the mistakes we had a better chance with Trevor.

This year, before Saturday anyway, we had a better chance with DJ who had shown massive improvement. Not perfect and certainly not without mistakes or moments that make you scratch your head, but light years better than where he was last year. If he uses this last Saturday and continues to get better then DJ gives us a better chance than Cade right now.

What I really want is to blow out ND, Louisville, and Miami so Cade gets lots of game reps and my heart can catch a break and finally close out the regular season by beating the coots 63-17 again just for old times’ sake.

I don't think that's true

Oct 23, 2022, 12:23 PM [ in reply to T-Law made plenty of mistakes when he was put in ]

Lawrence came in way more polished than Cade, and he was good right from the very first game.

Lawrence stats through 4 games while he was splitting time with KB:

39-60 (65%), 600 yds, 10 YPA with 9 TDs and 2 INTS. That is really, really good! He had 4 TD passes against GT including that one ridiculous throw where he rolled out to the left and threw an absolutely dart back across his body to Renfrow at the pylon.

I just don't see Cade the same way right now. He's not ready like Lawrence was ready. He looks far more raw.

Here’s the split difference…You people won’t allow anyone else to cheer for any other QB than Cade…We’ve all seen people on here go as far as wishing DJ back to CA…some of the harshest things have been directed to DJ..we all want Cade to be successful…it’s not his time right now regardless of what you people think about yesterday. We cannot run the ball 7”0 times a game.

Cade is fine. I believe you play him 4 quarters with the first team and most would be pleased. The guy has that “it” factor imo. Little faster and looks to have overall a greater energy.

I love both QB’s but if you were telling me Cade was the starter for the rest of the season it would not worry me in the least.

Not antiCade. He is young and learning. Needs to learn to step up in the pocket to throw instead of having to make a wild scramble to get a pass off.
