Thoughts from Saturday, and what's ahead for CU football ...

So it was another great day at Memorial Stadium, and it was especially nice to get to the taste out of our mouth from last weekend. Thoughts and observations:

1) Military Appreciation Day at CU is something that just keeps getting better year after year. I say adding to this tradition each year is a must. Respect to the CU administration in all ways...

2) EXCEPT FOR - apparently nobody heard my plea to "Fix the Hill" from three weeks ago. Look I know safety comes first. But please just YouTube the 2013 UGA game entrance video. This was the first time ABC did on-bus video of our entrance, as well as had overhead footage of Death Valley. Checkout the Hill ... packed. And what a great recruiting tool!

3) Lots of turnovers the last 3 weeks. Gotta clean that up. Wasted possessions.

4) We are 9-1. Please keep this in perspective concerning our staff. It's why I will always give this HC the benefit of the doubt. There is just something to be said about numbers. Examples:

a) We have 8 division championships, plus the COVID year #2 seed in the ACC.
b) We have 7 ACC championships, with an opportunity to play for an 8th.
c) We have beaten South Carolina 7 times in a row. (*SEC kept them from losing an 8th in 2020)
d) We have played for 4 National Titles, and won 2.

* We were 7-5, 7-5, 3-8, and 6-6 my four years at CU in football. Football was so bad, we camped
out (gasp) for basketball tickets then.

5) DJ is our QB. Do I want to see Cade more? Absolutely. Do I think he's better? Probably. But
#5 is our guy for this season. 5* recruit, and a CU Tiger (his OC was only half that). And I
know everyone says he's gone after this season, but where guys? It's not to Sunday football. So
support him.

6) We have Miami and USC left for our last two games, both at home. I don't care what their records
are. My wife was in a wedding the first time Miami came to Clemson, and my first born
child was delivered 1.5 days after the Mark Buchholz game winner in Columbia in 2007 ... I was at
both football games. Come enjoy it while it lasts!

So to conclude, am I frustrated with the offense? Sure. Are we less talented at WR than in years past? Sure. Is this defense championship caliber? Debatable. But we still have a chance to mop the floor with "THE U" and then celebrate Thanksgiving weekend by posted an 8th straight win against Carolina.
