I went to Wake for grad school. Up the road from the stadium towards University drive is a dive shopping center, but right across a side street is a bar called Putters that is pretty decent for food/beer.

There are some bar-type places on the road coming up from the stadium, but they change almost weekly it seems, so I'm not sure what's currently there.

Downtown I'd recommend Recreation Billiards for a pretty decent beer selection, but it's not a gameday bar.

the stadium. Downtown's only 5 minutes away. Finnigan's Wake is a nice Irish Bar and Foothills Brewery is the largest bar in Winston with good craft beers. Recreation Billiards is cool if you want to play pool or darts.

If arriving from the west on I-40, the Fox and Hound is behind Chick Fil-A on Knollwood Exit, just after Silas Creek Pkwy.

Foothills Brewery!!! My favorite brewery at the moment - though I've never had the pleasure of making it there. I hear they serve up great food as well. Hoppyum & the People's Porter!!!!!!!!!!!!
