Strategy for defending against FSU's pass game

Any football experts want to weigh in on a strategy I think would prove quite beneficial against FSU's offense with Maguire in at QB?
A 3-4 Scheme with Boulware as the 4th man rushing. Come out in a man scheme with cover 2 and have Boulware check between double coverage on Dalvin Cook, or if he's blocking be the 4th man rushing. It will limit Maguire's ability to check down to Cook on screens or underneath routes and force him to launch it deep on lower percentage throws.
/worked for me pretty well on Heisman difficulty and led to a 55-17 shillacking of the Noles.

Our DBs can cover in man. Shut down the run and bring pressure. Rush every decision and force mistakes. This defense thrives when they are able to get to the QB. Just don't let them beat you on the ground and our DBs will make plays.

i dont think we have enough depth at lb to make a 3-4 work

as a base package. maybe as a special package but i think it would be disguised in some way like a zone blitz where a de or dt drops back and becomes the 4th lb.
i think it all starts with getting into the backfield and not giving maguire enough time to hit the deep ball. we need to hit him early and often and make him pull the ball down and scramble as much as possible. we also need tankersly and alexander to press and make recievers fight to get on their routes and disrupt the timing of the underneath throws.
pressure can also affect the run game and if they cant get an effective run game, their play action deep ball wont count for very much and we can play deep like Jadar Johnson did on that first pick in the miami game. it all starts with domination at the line of scrimmage.

If they get as much time in the pocket to find receivers as Kizer and Brissett had, they will hurt us.

Ben is a huge liability in the pass game and better believe FSU is gonna look to exploit it. Id like to see ODaniel as the 4th backer in your scenario or replacing Ben on obvious passing downs.

I think our Nickel works fine. Either Blanks or Carter. Our Dime will be good as well.

If you are worried about the back in the passing game or the run game is getting you, then roll Green or Kearse down to the Field and slip Blanks over to the boundary and play Cover 3 or Cover 1 man (1 high safety). Tightens down the gap responsibilities and makes sweep plays more difficult. You are going to give them some more matchups outside. Ultimately, if they are prepared and prevent the big play then we should be fine.

I think we are going to see more mixing of zone/man than we have thus far. Corners are going to usually be in man, while safeties will alternate. Linebackers are going to have to be less aggressive against the run because FSU is going to use crosses that are meant to break big plays. The long NC State TD where Boulware got burned will be the template there. That play is perfect against our philosophy. FSU is going to get theirs on crosses and underneath routes. They key is to get turnovers and avoid big plays. Because of Venables aggressive style, I don't see us holding back though. I think he would rather attack the run game and risk the big gash plays.
I think it really comes down to execution in this one. If Boulware has another so-so game with respects to quickly recognizing drags and delayed crosses, then we are in trouble. If he has his best game, we should be good. We are not that great at getting pressure against good OL's. Notre Dame stonewalled us for nearly the entire game. If FSU's athletic and strong OL's can do something close to that... then we may be in for a shootout. FSU knows our weaknesses at this point and JImbo is a solid playcaller and gameplanner. He's excellent at making adjustments too.
The way NC State gashed us may have more to do with mistakes on our end, but good offensive playcalling can create mistakes for the other side. THough I trust Venables to cook something up himself to mitigate our exposed weaknesses. This game is going to be interesting. It's probably going to hurt my heart.

Just my opinion but the answer to your question is PRESSURE. Our OL has struggled picking up the blitz. On top of that I cant count the false starts we have had because of pressure. It all comes down to if we are able to run the ball or not. If we can we will be ok and maybe make a game of it with yall. If we cant run the ball it could be a looooooong game for us. Either way I still see you guys winning. It is just by how much.
