one of his blockers on that first rugby punt which would have been like going on fourth and loing yardage. How do you almost miss the ball there and on the bad snap too. I cant believe there isnt a less dangerous option than this for punting.

we need to recruit Ray Guy! He may hay a few semesters of eligibility left! or Dale Hatcher, I know Pinion has a year left. Sarcasm is implanted for free! We really do need an upgrade at the punter position, getting 1 good kick out of every 4 isn't good!

Generally the most popular guy on a football team for the fan base is the backup QB.
At Clemson, it’s the backup punter. ??

It's hard for me to believe that there isn't a student on campus that can punt significantly better than Will Spiers. Luckily we have a freshman coming in next year to save the day, otherwise it would be time for open try outs.

Carson King has punted better every single opportunity he has gotten. I don’t know why Dabo doesn’t at least give him a chance, other than the obvious last name.
Thank goodness we have the #1 punter coming in next year.

Carson King 5 for 203 yards 40.6 average
Dec 4, 2018, 8:59 AM

Spiers for 123 for 4932 yards 40.10 average
so about the same Spiers average is 39.45 this year and Kings one punt this year was 48 yards.
Spiers has to rugby kick to get his average near normal. Sometimes that bites you hard though.

On the radio broadcast, Munson said he hit his long snapper Austin Spence between the 2-5 while running down the field.
I think that punt went for 15 yards

Unfortunately, it is now well-established that if a defense packs the box and runs press-man, you might give up a big play; or you might get our Tigers to go 3-and-out with a 25-yard punt. Sounds like a trade worth risking.
Oh yeah, it also helps if it's raining.

Slow yer roll there now, alf! Don’t EVEN get us started on our kicker who can’t reach the stands now OR our place kicker who’s no longer automatic from 55 yards out...
... Boy, I tell you: these are DARK days for our team!

Against CFP caliber opponents, field position will be critical so we need a consistently good punter.

Then his next punt went for 70 yds and a touchback.

In a downpour
I remember covering a punt in a HS game that landed in a puddle. It just went 'splat' and stuck there. We all just laughed, the refs didn't even make us 'down' it because it was dead already and the PR abandoned it. It was a low pressure game; everybody was laughing about knocking each other down, sliding in the mud.
Misery for the fans, great fun for the players

It was 63 yards, minus 25 = 38 yds, another poor punt!***

The reason for the concern is that against a great opponent it could cost us the game. Field position will be huge in our next two games so we need a consistently good punter. Do not know why we haven't given anyone else a shot. I would be okay with trying Hunter as he has proven to be a clutch player and shines in the biggest of games. Is it too late to go with a different punter?
