National Forest named after him. This comes to mind after a post from great Tnetter ALAtigerfan® ALAtigerfan® who just posted he grew up near there in Lockhart. I also grew up fishing on the great Broad River. Swimming holes are many, and the catfish are strong.

River bordering Lockhart as a teenager and in summers when home from Clemson. The catfish were good eating. However, my favorite place for catfish was a fish camp near Lancaster and another in Boiling Springs. The catfish were small (4-6 inches) and they brought out platters of them and put them on the table. When I came to Alabama after getting home from Nam, they served bigger catfish that often had a mud taste. I miss the S.C. fish camps in Lancaster, Boiling Springs, etc. These Alabama folks have heard a lot from me about S.C. fish camps. Have those disappeared in S.C. or are there still some good fish camps they serve the smaller catfish and catfish stew (milk based rather than tomato based)?
