Source of the Clemson leaving the ACC in October rumor

Seems to be Gene Spankinoff of the Charleston Post Courier. I cannot find anyone posting/tweeting with any different source.
I hope one day Clemson is able to move beyond the ACC to greener pastures before we become irrelevant. But if Spankinoff is the source, I’m not buying. I can’t imagine a less connected source of information about Clemson. I suspect Larry Williams just jumped on board after the story hit the newswires. Of all the prior hype’s about Clemson leaving the ACC, this one seems the LEAST valid.

Larry has been on this since the beginning of the summer. Sapakoff is late to the party. It’s happening.

And Larry kept reminding subscribers all summer when they whined and cried about Clemson being quiet, while FSU was pounding their chest, that Clemson does it's best work behind the scenes.
I'm sure the Big/SEC would much rather negotiate with a school like Clemson that doesn't create a media circus.

Heard Mickey say this on his show other morning. Know a lot of you don’t like Mickey but as a rule he doesn’t deal in rumors and would imagine he is as well connected as anyone around CU

Mickey Plyler’s confidence in the move seems very genuine. He’s very well connected in the Clemson athletic community so either he’s being lied to or a move is imminent.

Yep. We are in the middle of CFB season as well and the NFL is in full swing.
Sports reporters and shows don't have to go looking for stories to keep interest as they do during the preseason.

I sure hope it’s true. Not just about the money. So sick of talking conference realignment vs just football!

More football doesn't = better football. In the 4 team system we have now TCU, OSU, Michigan and Cincinnati have all been run off the field. I predict the B1G and SEC will become AFC/NFC light and we'll see 8 team playoffs. A decade or two to get all the alignment done.

Gene Sapakoff isn't. I know Gene, and personally think he tries to shoot straight, but doubt he has any inside Clemson sources.
Trust Larry Williams.

Larry Williams told all us subscribers back August on the subscribers board something was going to happen this year. It was either this past Saturday or Sunday he posted it could be October. Maybe Sapakoff has a subscription or someone tipped him off to that post, so he started doing some digging?

It’s happening! The question is, to which conference?

Louisville's of the world didn't just completely fall off the map and would have provided the juice they were supposed to provide when they came on board. I mean they all just died shortly after getting here. And they've been non existent for more than a decade now other than Louisville had a run with Lamar. I like our conference. I liked our regional rivalries.. but they all just regressed drastically. I thknk you'll see the florida teams come back b/c cheating is legal but the others are just gone i think.
