Sorry, but I'm just not impressed with Loserville

Sep 11, 2017, 8:53 AM

Yes, Action Jackson has put up stats which at a glance look impressive. Fact is though, ANY above average QB can accomplish the same against ZERO pass rush. And I do mean ZERO.

We're coming for you, Lavar. Times they are a-changin.'

He's good, very good.

Sep 11, 2017, 8:54 AM

But what he's done so far is against 2 defense not even ranked in the Top 100(Purdue/UNCheat)

You should honestly use the S&P+ right now. You have to keep in mind that what Lamar did on those defenses is what makes the basic rankings so low looking at the current standing. The S&P+ removes some of that to give a better look at the reality...which has UNC ranked at 56 and Purdue at 93 in Defensive S&P+. Also has Clemson as #2 Defensive S&P+, only behind Alabama.

Would UNCheat crack the top 50

Sep 11, 2017, 1:11 PM

if they had the ability to mount ANY semblance of a pass rush?

Their defense was what didn't impress me - 35 points to UNC?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The difference in the game was +2 in turnovers

Sep 11, 2017, 9:02 AM

UNCheat coughed it up twice. Otherwise, neither D could do anything against the other O.

I was impressed with what he did against OUR defense last

Sep 11, 2017, 8:59 AM

year and he has gotten better in passing and decision making it seems. Not sure we need to write him off???

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Meh

Sep 11, 2017, 9:05 AM

Not going to be the same scenario for two reasons. First, we know how to defend Mr Heisman now. Second, their nasty D has moved on. Not graduated, just moved on.

walk in the park as some tend to think but regardless it will be won on the field, not people's opinion.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Their pitiful excuse for a D is going to make our O

Sep 11, 2017, 9:32 AM

look like world beaters. They can't beat us in a shootout. We win easily by at least two scores. Get the tombstone ready. Since they're artificially ranked, our graveyard grows again.

BTW our O didn't just move on

they GRADUATED. Some of them in just two-and-a-half years. Just another way Loserville will never be Clemson.

if we can contain him on the rush they dont have a huge number of other weapons. I believe our D will be fine and O should move it against them

It's all about matchup's. Their offensive line especially the interior is so bad dex and wilk will penetrate all night and force Jackson out of the pocket right into Kendall Joseph and Dorian ODaniel. I also think we will be blitzing muse and/or Wallace more this game for two reasons. Their speed to keep up with Jackson and we can afford too because our cornerbacks can hold their own and don't need safety help over the top

Sep 11, 2017, 9:00 AM

All I know is that our O had better score a whole lot more points than 14. Otherwise, we lose by a ton.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not to worry

Sep 11, 2017, 9:09 AM

We could score 21 and win this game. And against that pathetic D, scoring 21 won't be much of a task.

Holding them to 21 pts would be tough

Sep 11, 2017, 9:52 AM

I feel confident about a win up there, but it isn't realistic to think we will hold their offense below three touchdowns. They are good. Lamar is as dynamic a runner as last year, and they say his passing is better. I don't know if that is correct. This year, I've seen him toss a few pretty passes and also sail several way over the head of an open receiver. IMO, the jury is still out on his being a great passer, but let's give credit where it is due: They have a great running QB who directs a wide-open scheme. Their offensive system is impressive. I know, they will not have great success against our Tiger D, but they will have their moments and will score.

Some of us overlooked the talent that Auburn has on defense. They played a good game and affected what we could do. I tip my hat to them. Our offense will be fine this year, but we struggled against Auburn. Against the Cards, our offense should readily score while the defense limits them. We win, but we are facing a challenge this week. Coach BV will have to put in some extra hours to devise a good approach; however, I agree with you that we can anticipate a solid win. 38-24

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Houston held them to 10 and LSU gave up 9

Sep 11, 2017, 10:03 AM

They averaged 19 over their 3-game losing streak to end last season, falling to KYJelly 41-38 to inflate the average. They'll do well to score 17 against our D.

Sep 11, 2017, 9:08 AM

Well they have added a wrinkle in their offense.. when you come after LJ they have a slant/crossing route that is very hard to defend at the same time you are blitzing. They hit it over and over again against UNC. Our defense is way better than UNC's but it is a pick your poison type of thing there.
I have great confidence in BV... Im sure he saw WAY WAY WAY more than I did from that on the UNC tape and will be ready.
